Technolgy sucks
I am so fucking SICK of technology falling down on the job. I’ve got enough money that I can buy the best computers, pda’s, accessories, yet it doesn’t matter. Money doesn’t matter. Between us, my better half and I own more than 13 computers, 6 or more of which are “new” quality. Yet everything acts like a piece of shit. I am so fucking sick of Mozilla going to shit and corrupting my profile. (I WILL NOT use IE out of principle.) Netscape 4.x used to do this all the time and Mozilla is supposed to be so much better. But no. I’m on my sixth Moz profile so far and I’ve only been using it for 2 months. It’s not just annoying. I LIVE out of my bookmarks. I’ve gotten into the habit of backing up my booksmarks because whenever the profile gets corrupted, I lose my bookmarks. But I don’t back them up every day. My most recent bookmark backup is from 3-21 and today is 3-31. I put alot of work into organizing them and I live off them. But alas, again, it’s shit-time.
I’ve had to start over AGAIN w/ a new profile and bookmarks that are almost two weeks old.
“Well, why don’t you back up your system more regularly then?” HA! Well! Let’s see. My newest state of the art PC won’t recognize EITHER of my external hard drives which I bought so that I could use incremental backup software. Nope. My better-half is a Computer Engineer/Computer Programmer and I have 2.5 degrees in computers and electronics, and neither of us can get it working. I can’t use my scanner either. It’s unbelievable. The only way to back up that pc is to boot into a linux floppy and do it by hand. WE CAN’T EVEN GET LINUX RUNNING ON THAT MACHINE! We have to use a linux FLOPPY! I feel like screaming. I feel like BREAKING SOMETHING! Oh no, wait, everything already IS broken.
I know I need to use incremental backup software every day. But I can’t use it because my external hard drives aren’t being recognized.
I’ve lost 2 weeks of bookmark building and organizing.
I’m so sick of this!
And every time this happens I have to re-import my address book, re-setup my mail settings, reset my home page, redo my preferences, and re-import some of my mail folders from my other pc. I need to find a way to keep my mail folders on a file server or something (because I am not always on the same machine).
