Link of the day:

AbeBooks.com: Want a book but don’t want to pay full price? AbeBooks.com is a network of used book stores. You run a search for the book you want, srcoll thru the results to look for the cheapest one (or the nicest one if you are a collector), then buy online. I have used it many times and have never been disappointed.

Tired

Sunday, May 25th, 2003

I’m SO tired. It’s 12:39am and I’m SO tired I can barely keep my eyes open… but I want to web surf, blog surf, do some blogging, do some reading. Sux. I wish we never had to sleep.

Tetris

Saturday, May 24th, 2003

Back in the 90′s I used to play Tetris on the mac and it was great, you could press “p” to pause the game and still see game pieces so you could think about strategy while paused. I cannot find a good version of tetris for the pc. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Don’t download Tetris-2000 from Web-Entrance because that installs spyware on your computer.

Oh what next

From CNN: “‘Matrix’ makes its way into courtrooms as defense strategy
CNN story
…it remains to be seen whether jurors will buy the “Matrix”-based insanity defenses that have cropped up lately. So far, they have.

Index File

Later tonite I hope to play w/ my css template. I want to see if I can move the code for the left sidebar to the bottom of the html page. That way, it’ll look the same in web browsers on the computer but when being viewed w/ other devices (like cell phones and pda’s) the content will load first and then the sidebars last. (see this.) If that doesn’t work then I’ll just kill the left sidebar (although I just love my layout). I have no way to test it, my cell phone and pda do not surf the web. Well, my new pda CAN surf the web but I’d have to go buy a cf-card modem for it. I’ll play w/ it probably tonite.

White on Black

Saturday, May 24th, 2003

I can’t read websites that are white words on black (or white on dark grey, etc.). Some of them look interesting and so I WANT TO read them, but I just can’t because they give me bad eye-strain and often a piercing headache. Espeically the ones w/ a SMALL white font on a dark background. Ouch.

Ugh

Saturday, May 24th, 2003

Man, yesterday I took TWO naps and still was tired. Today I slept 7 or 8 hours, got up, took a shower, and I still feel tired. I could go back to bed. About five minutes ago I thought I was going to throw up. Then a minute ago strong “digtestive problems” began. I hope I am not getting sick.

Turkish Angoras

Friday, May 23rd, 2003

Doctor’s should prescribe Turkish Angoras for depressed people. I mean, nobody could be depressed when they have a Turkish Angora in their home! The cat …… is SO loving, so attentive, so affectionate. (That’s my kitty Crystal.) When u walk in the room, they get ALL excited to see you, going “BrrrRRRRRRRRrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!” when they see you. They follow you everywhere, and give you sandpaper-tongue baths for 15 minutes at a time. So cute! So mood-lifting. :)

Bejeweled

Sad, Sick

Thursday, May 22nd, 2003

Man. This makes me sad. Not only is it just sick, but I used to GO to Popcorn Park when I was a kid! When I was ten I’d go all the time w/ my grade-school buddy Jacinda. This is just horrible. (via Jodiverse.) Jodi’s blog title is “Why I Fucking Hate People”. Do u know how many times a day I say “I fucking hate people!”? And I’ll say it again.

Politics

Thursday, May 22nd, 2003

The newspaper was bragging that in our area the FCAT scores went up (standardized testing in the public school system), and yet at the same time the paper also reported that our school system (which I heard is one of the very largest in the country) has a 25% drop out rate! So, perhaps the fcat scores went up because they are encouraging the low-scoring teens to drop out! Gotta love it. >:|

Crap

Thursday, May 22nd, 2003

So much stuff has been going wrong lately. I could easily become dep ressed about it. It’s enough to make anybody not want to leave the house at all or even get out of bed. I feel like at every turn I am being butt-f*cked; screwed by society, screwed by insurance companies, screwed by pharmaceutical companies, screwed here, screwed there, and then I can’t even get from point A to point B without some *sshole trying to KILL me w/ his vehicle on the road. I could easily become very depress ed. I’ll try not to, though.

Do this, no do that!

Thursday, May 22nd, 2003

No wonder this country is getting fatter and nobody can lose weight, there’s so much conflicting info;

Get this:
An AP Wire story reports that the Atkins diet is better than a low fat diet:

… meanwhile at the same time,
a Reuters story reports that the Atkins diet is NO better than a low fat diet:

Both stories are on Yahoo News and both stories are dated the same day! (yesterday)

Movie/Sushi

Wednesday, May 21st, 2003

I got “Spirited Away” on DVD used today. Wheee! Movie Gallery (at least the one in my area) has a buy two get one free on Previously Viewed DVDs, buy two get two free on previously viewed video tapes.

I went for sushi today (as usual) and my sushi chef made me a treat. It had no name (yet) but was what I would call a “Salmon Martini”. I’ll upload photos later. It was a groovy martini glass w/ a curved cobalt blue stem and in the bottom was rice and then on the top was many small pieces of salmon which has been stirred in lemon juice, sesame seeds, and something spicy. It then had paper-thin lemon slices and a cucumber stick. It looked SO cute! And tasted great, too.

Spirited Away follow up

Monday, May 19th, 2003

Ok, so I watched Spirited Away and was quite surprised. It was really good and I’m going to watch it again before I return it. This Hayao Miyazaki guy is something else!

Now, is Spirited Away considered animae? I’ve never liked animae. And so far I have not liked anyone whom I’ve met in 3D who was “into animae”. (I said “so far” and I said “in 3D”.) I was at Best Buy today and noticed that they had it filed under Animae. Ugh, am I becoming an animae fan?

I like Spirited away. What I have not liked is the kind of animae where the characters are slutty or saucer-eyed or make noises like they are having sex when they are just… not. Maybe Hayao Miyazaki’s animation is considered a higher-grade of animae. I have no idea. All I know is that I really liked Spirited Away.

Rented Movies

Friday, May 16th, 2003

I rented Spirited Away tonight. I have no idea what it is, it just sounded/looked interesting. I also rented Real Women Have Curves.

Lunar Eclipse

Friday, May 16th, 2003

We watched the lunar ecplise last night. I put my D60 on a tripod and also used it attached to M’s telescope. I have yet to download the photos, but when I do (tonite) I will of course post them online.

Pants-ed

Wednesday, May 14th, 2003

I love my Pencam (Aiptek mini pencam). I almost always have it around my neck. Good thing, as I’m able to catch photos I’d have otherwise missed, things like the coke-bag in the bathroom (previous post) and this:

White Powder

Wednesday, May 14th, 2003

I was in the Sears bathroom tonight and saw this on the counter. It had what white powder in it. I had my pencam around my neck so I shot it. I’d have gotten out my new Clie w/ the 2mp camera on it, but I did NOT want to have my bag open near that thing lest somebody walk in and think it was my baggie. Crimeny!
