I think this is sad. Mistakes happen.
A British garbage man accidentally hit the wrong button, dumping 20 tons of garbage onto the road. His company and co-workes made him clean it up by himself with a shovel for hours before sending in a front-loader to help him. That is so fucking sad that they put him through that, it could happen to anybody.

Tonite is the Linux Meetup, are you going?
Ugh. I wanted to downgrade from my sony clie nz90 to something smaller and lighter, but something that had (or could add on) wifi and bluetooth.
Well, the sony clie ux50 is lighter than any clie I’ve ever had and has built-in bluetooth and wifi AND when webpages load, they look just like they do on a computer (full graphical, not like wap sites). Must have. Drool.
(sonystyle.com’s links always break, so for more info, just go to sonystyle.com and search for the ux50.)

I saw this little digicam online a few months ago and cam thissclose to buying it, but used willpower. Then today I saw it at Office Max, and came thissclose to buying it. It’s $69.95.
I had fallen in love w/ the FujiFilm film version of this camera a while ago (APS film), and when I saw it in digital, I flipped. It’s 1.3mp WITH FLASH.
Now I cannot find it anywhere online to link you to, but here’s a pic
.
I don’t need it, but it’s sporty and stylish and has a flash.
It doesn’t take memory cards and I have no idea the battery life. But I bet this camera would be fun.
Hey Palm fanatics, is there a good Palm OS based pda that is thin/small/light and has WiFi AND Bluetooth?
The Tungsten C has wifi but not bluetooth, the T2 and T3 have bluetooth but no wifi.
I’m shopping and open to suggestions.
I have the clie nz90 but it is so thick and heavy I leave it home most of the time now. I miss my clie nr70v, it was thin and light, did grafitti AND had a keyboard, a swivel lo-res camera: but no bluetooh, can’t remember if it did audio recording (I use that alot).
It’s like I can’t find one that has everything: I need:
small/thin/light
keyboard
grafitti area
bluetooth
wifi
I’m probably going to have to comprimise. But my MAIN concern at this point is weight.
Babbling.
This article really pissed me off.
What other industry is at war with it’s own customers and completely distrusts it’s customers? It’s totaly bullshit that now there are laws in some states allowing theatres to search purses etc, looking for cameras.
Article: States Outlaw Digital Taping in Cinemas
Yes, it’s illegal to copy entire movies and share them. (I’m not saying I wouldn’t buy or watch a copied movie.) It’s just… what I’m getting at is that if I want to take a 30-second snippet from a movie that I’m watching in the theatre and send hat file to my friend via email to say “dude, you gotta go see this movie”, this should NOT be a felony!
I should be able to go into a theatre with my phone that has a camera and video capability… my palm pilot that has camera/vidao/audio recording capability… and not be detained – and oh yes, the MPAA has lobbied and WON- some states now allow theatres to detain you (while they wait for police) based soley on what you carry in your purse!
Jesus christ.
My god, at any given moment I have ON ME: a phone that does camera and video with sound, a palm pilot (sony clie) that has a 2mp camera with flash, video with sound, and audio recording, and my tiny mousepad-sized laptop that is featherlight and fits in a purse. More often than not I also have a small digital camera on me too, either my tiny Pencam or my small U60, both of which do video.
Now, let’s see, let’s invent all this PORTALBE high-tech stuff and then create a society where one is detained for questioning just for having it on them!
Quote:
“At a preview for “Honey,” guards walked through the darkened theater wearing night-vision goggles to check for cameras.”
OH COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is not even remotely necessary!
The truth is, even those who WATCH pirated movies don’t want ones that were filmed in a theatre with room noise, crowd noise, laughing, coughing, etc. I want my pirated copy to be CLEAN!
This kind of thing makes me, a person who has never copied a movie from a theatre, makes me want to go in and try to copy every single movie I see and put it online. Just to fight back. You want a problem? I’ll GIVE you a problem!
And the stupid MPAA even dispute the FACTS found by third-party research! God forbid some univolved party figure out that the “problem” is not really such a big problem afterall! The MPAA then just whines like a baby saying that flawed data was used. My ass.
It’s all an effort to blind and control.
Fuck them and the RIAA. I think I’ll go download some movies and songs, just because they pissed me off.

Interesting article:
“Traditional photography is fading from the picture”
I doubt film will die completely.
I also doubt that ‘real’ photography will die. Depending on your opinion, you can do ‘real’ photography with digial SLR’s, which is what I prefer.
This new Mars Mission has me remembering the Mars Pathfinder mission of ’97.
Where were you when the Mars Pathfinder mission touched down?
I was house-sitting for some friends of mine and was still single at the time. I brought my Apple LCII with me (which was old at the time) and set it up so that I would not miss my nightly chat w/ M who was still in Canada at the time. I set up my computer and chatted w/ M and my other chat buddies, while watching the images on television.
Now M and I are together and another Mars mission is touching down.
Cool.
Road trippin’ to Ft. Lauderdale, hit Swiss Chalet (mecca), Krispy Kreme (mecca), Comp USA (mecca), the mile-long mall… I fully expect my feet to fall off. Check moblog 4 peeks.

Heard a quote on Buffy last night, something about Sunnydale being a “one Starbucks town”.
I love that.
I live in a one-starbucks town, too. (no, and we don’t even have Peets!)
Interesting article @ news.bbc.co.uk,
Web of complexity: Weaning yourself off Google search is hard to do…
I think this is too cool:
Web creator, Tim Berner’s Lee was knighted.
Many news stories thereof.
Creepy statistic: “[Wal-Mart] accounts for 9 cents of every U.S. retail dollar…”
I don’t like Wal-Mart, it’s too much of a monopoly, it’s too big-brother-ish, I’d rather support Target or the local supermarket.
But I go there more than I’d like to admit, us being night-owls we often go there cuz it’s the only place open at midnight.
Now with a Micky-D’s built right in, why go anywhere else? (because mickey-d’s food SUCKS!!!!)
I must… break… the chains…
Still not much going on. M has today off. We slept in cuz we were up ’till 5:30 last night. Spring cleaning, reorganizging.
Slept in, went for oil change, walked over to buffet restaurant next to the car dealership and as we walked onto the parking lot, up pulls A BUS FULL of old farts. I yelled “Noooooo!!!!!!” and RAN to the restaurant to beat the busload. M & I were literally running, it was a freaking riot. Like something out of a bad movie. But at least we beat them. See moblog.
Got oil change, went home, have LOTS to do. Tons of cleaning as M’s parents are coming on Wed from Canada. But before cleaning can commense, organization must precede: must put up shelves, organize garage shelves, clean out under the stairs, etc…. so that there’s somewhere to PUT the crap that we clean up.
Weighing the pros and cons of keeping my sony clie nz90. It’s so big and heavy I leave it home half the time, I wish I’d kept my nr70v.
Pros about the new one (nz90):
- can record audio (don’t remember if the old one could or not)
- nicer display
- higher res camera with flash
- has bluetooth
Pros about the old one (nr70v):
- smaller/thinner
- lighter
- camera eye swiveled
- keypad was non-slip
M is upstairs putting up new drapes, I really need to get to work.
Blogging from my cell via email, on way home from Wally World. Gotta get cleaning as soon as I get home. Won’t allow myself computer time till I clean.

Nothing is new. Just cleaning cuz M’s parents are coming from Canada on Wed. NY Eve was subdued, stayed home & watched Angel Season One on DVD.
