towels in windows are full and news on radio just said we have several more hours of this.
Every window is leaking, wet walls, wet carpet, wet blinds, second floor ceiling is leaking now, bedroom wet, water coming from a/c vent, door frame, light switch. Wind is bad gusts but overall not too bad, but I’m upset about water damage!
Shutting down the computer so I can put it in plastic (the large laptop). My tiny laptop has a great battery but who knows if there will be power for the DSL, wireless hub, or if there will even be internet or cell phone. They are saying 145 mpg + winds coming right for us, they’re saying to get into inner rooms and put matresses over our heads! Crap!
It’s now a category FOUR! and coming OUR way!
Local news:

Ok, it’s heading OUR way now and they just said that it is now STRONGER than the infamous hurricane Donna of 1960. Oh sh******t.
Oh man, the storm just shifted in a direction more toward us. It’s been wobbling, so maybe it will move back, but if not, we’re gonna get hit.
I don’t know which will go down first, the cell phones (moblog), or our power here or our internet, or what.
Eeek!
UPDATE: Will be adding photos to the moblog with camera-phone images as long as the cell phone works.
I just don’t get it. I’ve been getting these junk blog comments, but not on this blog, on ones that are not and have never been in search engines, and the blog comments are the typical spam type: vague vague vague and then with a spam url. But lately the spam urls don’t even work. Why would someone go thru all the trouble to post a vage, obviously spam comment, and not even post a url that actually goes to the product they are selling? It’s so weird. They’re not genuine comments because they are vague, make statements that are false, like “saw your blog on google” when it’s NOT on google, and post comments that obviously make no sense, like “what a riot!” when talking about how sad I am cuz my cat died, and stuff like that. These people have to do the old “type in this code if you want to comment” thing, yet they waste everyone’s time w/ usesless urls that do not even exist. Too strange.

There are TWO… 2!!!!! hurricanes coming directly for us. It’s rare to have any hurricane hit THIS coast of Florida, but now there are two… TWO! One is supposed to hit well north of us, but could still bring alot of rain/flooding (and we’re right on a pond in a neighborhood with TERRIBLE drainage). The other is supposed to hit us directly, although it’s to go over Cuba first and will probably graze the coast, so I’m thinking it will weaken over Cuba and not have time to strengthen over the Gulf.
But what gets me is our leaky house. Our very nice, brand new, but LEAKY house. (and the poor drainage on our street and the fact that we are on a lake) I’ve never seen such a leaky house, and even alot of rain could bring us wet carpets or something.
One time the roof leaked and water got in the smoke alarm system which is all thru the house and wired. They’re daisy-chained so while they SCREEEEEEECHED in our ears we had to disable them one by one until we got to the one that was wet before all the screeching stopped.
It’s a stucco home and water can go right thru the stucco if there are even hairline cracks not visible to the eye and case wet carpets. The windows constantly leak. There are “mold homes” in our neighborhood, the kind w/ toxic mold in them. That’s cuz when these people had water intrusion, they chose to sue the builder rather than get the water intrusion damage fixed, so now, of course since they let it go, they have toxic mold. So we have to really keep up w/ it.
The worst thing I can see happening is debris being picked up by wind and blown against our windows, or the power going out (very likely) and having to go without air conditioning or fans and not being able to open windows cuz of the wind and rain. That’s the worst thing I think will happen.
I can live without tv, internet… never thought I’d say that, but I think I can. But I can’t STAND to be hot.
Here’s the kind of flooding we see with REGULAR “florida summer thunderstorms”, so that’s why two hurricanes heading our way is quite scary to me:

This one above is a shot of my last Eclipse (I really miss her) getting flooded. It was an RS and she got flooded (water came in passenger side cuz the car was tilted) and then the engine and brakes never sounded the same, so I thought I’d better replace her before something went wrong. Now I have the blue GT but I really miss my ol’ red one, I liked that body style better and she was my first new car ever. *sigh*
UPDATE: from the local news site:
“Governor Jeb Bush has declared a state of emergency for the entire state ahead of the two tropical storms bearing down on Florida.
Tropical Storm Bonnie could be at hurricane strength by early Thursday morning, just off the Panhandle coast. Tropical Storm Charley is already near hurricane strength, with arrival expected off the southwest Florida coast sometime Friday.”
Babies are stupid.
They eat cardboard.
At M’s office, had to work late (8:36pm and still working) and on a conference call, the guy on the other end all of a sudden u hear a baby (real professional) and he goes “uh oh, my baby was just about to eat the cardboard box here”.
Babies are stupid.
We got this killer coffee maker yesterday, the Philips Senseo coffee maker. Makes small cups of coffee in 30 seconds, and it’s REALLY good coffee w/ a somewhat frothy top.

Then I remembered seeing flavored sugar at Barnie’s coffee, so today I went by and picked some up.
Holy cow, that flavored sugar REALLY makes a great flavored coffee drink. The sugar is by “Princess of Yum”.

Yesterday I felt I didn’t have a reason to live.
I still feel the same way today, but it’s just bothering me less.
I hate that I feel this way.
If I was moving to Ireland instead of just visiting there, I could get this cool phone:
Babies are stupid.
They eat tables.

Some things that are pissing me off today:

from Slashdot:
quote: “digitalcaffeine writes “The gist of the story is that Katie Tarbox became a victim of an online sexual predator when she was 13. She wrote a book about it in 2000 and Penguin Putnam made the title of the book ‘Katie.Com’, which unfortunately was a domain name owned by Katie Jones since 1996. Now Tarbox’s lawyer is demanding that Jones turn over the domain name. Penguin refuses to apologize, saying that it would be a violation of their free speech to re-title the book and that Jones never trademarked katie.com, so they can do what they want with the words.”" Read More.

from Slashdot again:
quote: “An anonymous reader writes “According to a story in yesterday’s New Orleans paper, the Louisiana Radio and Television Technicians Board has sent letters to computer techs demanding fees to license them as radio and TV repairmen. Apparently, as computers drive more home theater applications, the board is trying to classify them as ‘playback and recording device equipment,’ which the law gives the board power to regulate. It looks more like a money grab, though, since no test is required, just $55 and an affidavit.” It seems to me the better question is not whether computers can be defined in many circumstances as playback and recording equipment (hard to get around), but whether this kind of forced classification makes sense in the first place. Disingenuous quote of the day: “We’re not trying to swing our arm around a whole bunch of people to get new revenue.”" Read More.

from slashdot:
“linuxwrangler writes “Officials at the National Transportation Safety Board are recommending the government require data recorders in all passenger vehicles. David Sobel of EPIC says his group has privacy concerns – especially when drivers are unaware of the presence of the devices. Auto black-boxes have been covered here before.”" Read More.

Rain, More Rain, It rains EVERY SINGLE F*CKING DAY, photoshop’s “my web gallery”, my pc freezing up, bad drivers, people who can’t raise their kids to be quiet in public, zits, filth, people, the world…
I am way behind in uploading photos.
I signed up w/ Fotki.com. It’s $30 a year and you get unlimited space for your photos (!), so you can upload high-res versions for pals to download if you want.
I’ve uploaded another folder of photos to the gallery, this folder hosted at fotki.

I’m so sick of spending valuable time filling out forms online only to get stupid errors afterwards. People should make sure their sites work! Geez.

While at that huge mall on Friday, on the other coast, I stopped into Hot Topic. M got an Office Space Shirt…
(moblog pic)
… and I got some comics and a book. The Hot Topic in our mall doesn’t have the comics and books.
I got:

Something At The Window Is Scratching
Children’s tales for disturbed children.
Been wantin’ a gnome. Been lookin’ for gnome. I figured they’d be ubiquitous, kitschy as they are. But no….. they’re hard to find. Esp the perfect one: i.e. small (to travel), and resin (to not break).
I hit paydirt at the local Dockside Imports, the little ones were 99 cents. I grabbed 3, but afterwards I wondered if they were more dwarves than gnomes. Floppy hat, baby face. Not sure. But for 99 cents, they’ll do.
(moblog pic)
But then I found the quintessential gnome on ebay, and he’s on his way to join the club:

Older face, more facial hair, pipe, erect hat, mushroom, etc.
Not sure who will go w/ me to Ireland. Maybe the sitting gnome cuz he’s wearing green, otherwise it’ll be the ebay gnome.
I need a life.
Cool site that Christine of Big Pink Cookie mentioned:

I was looking for a file on my ‘puter and came across our deed which I scanned in a while ago, and now I have “Dirty deeds done dirt cheap” in my head and I can’t get it out!
Lazy day. It’s been raining all day, which is unusual for this area. Went to lunch w/ mom, shopped, came home, napped, went for a late dinner, went to Wal Mart (even though I want to boycott them). Then was at a green light and watched a guy completely RUN the red light and hit the guy in the next lane from us at the green light. The guy who ran the red light did a 360 in the wet intersection, and when he came to a stop, just drove away. We were heading straight but decided to turn and try to get the guy’s plate number. We got the first half, as the second half was obscured by a lightbulb hanging down. The had to know we were following him. He slowed down and turned down a side street, but we called the police w/ the info that we had, the description and location of the car, etc. We stopped back at the scene on the way home to tell the guy who was hit that we got the info and called it in. I hope they catch that asshole. I love when people get what they deserve.
