A cell phone for dogs!

News article:
http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/39512.htm

It goes on the collar and answers when it recognizes your #, you can sweet-talk your pooch over speaker phone and hear him back if he barks. It’s also a GPS in case he gets lost, and it has a call-owner button if the dog is found lost.

I had been doing a photo project all on my own called “My Backyard”. I hosted the photos (a photoblog) under laserblog (old link: laserblog.com/mybackyard.

But then I decided that I wanted to share it w/ more people (i.e. family that I’d rather didn’t start reading laserblog), so I moved the posts and the photos to blogger.

Go here to see it, and read the short description at the top to understand what it is:

http://backyardblog.blogspot.com/

Description: “Welcome to My Back Yard! I once read that a great way to improve your eye as a photographer is to go out into your backyard every single day for a month and take at least one photo. This forces you to look for new things, look for new angles, and find new ways to photograph the same old things. I figured I’d take on this exercise (over more than just a month) and post the bakyard photos here on this photoblog.”

Overheard today at Bob Evans:

“I’m always concerned about your keys.
I’m always concerned about your keys.

I’m always concerned about your keys.

I’m always concerned about your keys.
I’m always concerned about your keys.

I’m always concerned about your keys.”

Update: What a strange day. Then the food comes and the bacon is soggy and tasteless, and then I open up the butter packet and it’s empty! I’m tellin’ ya, this is a STRANGE DAY.

Today is starting out VERY freaking weird. I went to a meeting and was done early. So I thought I’d go to Blu Sushi since I hadn’nt been in ages. I go at 10:20 and they don’t open ’till 11:30. Then I go to Renee’s and they don’t open till 11:30 either. Then I go to Origami sushi, and THEY don’t open till 11:30. Then I figure I’ll go to First Watch for BREAKFAST, they HAVE to be open, it’s a breakfast place. What could possibly go wrong, right? Well, the road to the place, from where I was, was BLOCKED OFF!! I REFUSE to go to Burger-Shit-King which was nearby. So now I’m at Bob Evans waiting for food that isn’t even what I want. Meanwhile, the worst part of this is that while in the parking lot of my meeting, I took a herbal diet pill that u take 30 minutes before eating. Sometimes if I take one of those and DON’T eat right away, I throw up!

What’s wrong with me?

Tuesday, January 25th, 2005

Oh my god, I’m old and I don’t even realize how old I really am! I always tell people that I feel 21, or even 16. I DON’T feel my age AT ALL. Well, today, I caught myself in the middle of this thought – (!): “When I turn 30, I will tell everyone I am ’29 again’, and each year I will say that I am 29 again.” PROBLEM IS I’m far past that! I actually DO think I’m in my 20′s! OH GOD!

Rant with me

Tuesday, January 25th, 2005

This is what I love about M and me. M came home last night and said “I was almost side-swiped on the way home and then she cut in front of me and didn’t she have a christian fish on her car?” and this sparks a whole 30 minute long lively converstaion and rant back and forth between us. I love having someone who not only thinks like I do, but loves to have long conversations about people and religion and other things. I think we’d have ranted back and forth for longer, but we arrived at our destination at a distant relatives house and so the talk/rant had to end. But I enjoy it. I missed that when M was away all week at xmas.

We have a farm (or is it a herd?).

Tuesday, January 25th, 2005

Riley got fixed yesterday and is home now.

M. got a dog from the pound. We planned on that for a while now. Actually M wanted a “pointy nosed, prick eared, knee high” dog for a while, and I sort of cut in front by getting Riley when I did (who is a no-nosed, floppy-eared, toy-sized dog) ’cause a litter became available. So then we figured we’d wait ’till after the holidays and stuff, and every day practically, M has been hitting the pound website checking for dogs and this one came up.

I don’t know if it’s going to work out, but we hope it will. All I ask is that it’s housebroken and doesn’t try to hurt the cats and that it doesn’t bark 24/7.

So far he’s really sweet (we’re going w/ the name Nicky).

That’s it though, we’re DONE! No more. Now we each have our very own dog and cat. I have Riley and Sasha, and M. has Crystal and now Nicky.

No more! It’s almost too much as it is.

What’s hard though, is that M goes off to the office job 40+ hours a week while I’m left home to walk and entertain the TWO dogs. *I* don’t want two dogs, but somehow I end up having to walk and entertain two dogs.

But so long as the dogs can be trained and the new dog is well-behaved, things will be easier.

The Frog’s Bad Day

Sunday, January 23rd, 2005

Think you had a bad day? I thought I was having a bad weekend. Then M ran the lawn mover over this frog. M tried NOT to run the mower over this frog. Then just when he thought the way was clear, he heard the most sickening combination of a “ping!” and a “squish!”.

Ireland Dream

Thursday, January 20th, 2005

I had this very realistic dream that I had gone back to Ireland by myself to the same town and the same hotel, all on the spur of the moment. I was there, with nobody to do things with, with little money, camera in hand, but no plan. I dreamed I went around trying to take photos but kept feeling like I wished I could have gone more places than just that one town. I remember weird festivals that were not Irish-looking, but more Mardi-Gras looking. A good part of the dream was about me trying to get online so that I could blog my trip, but the hotel still only had dial-up and a long line of people waiting to use the few computers they had.

I’d go back in a nanosecond. I’d pack in half an hour and be gone. I want to go back so badly, I want to travel and take photos.

I wondered why I had this weird but very realistic dream. I’ve been wanting to go back to Ireland so bad, and my brother is going and he’s going to the same town that we went to… but then I just realized that yesterday while out in town I saw a lady who was on the same trip as us.

There were 130 people from my town flying to the same airport at the same time (on 2 planes), on the same buses, staying at the same hotel, and all going on the same planned tours together. Yesterday was the second time I saw somebody from that trip here in town. I guess that’s why I had that dream. Also, last night I found myself talking about “my dream” of being someone who travels the world and gets published selling beautiful books of photos from around the world. I guess all those things lead to me having that strange dream.

Cat From Hell mat

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

This is the new Cat Food Mat I got… when I saw it I immediately thought of our nutty Turkish Angora, Crystal. But I also thought of Mom’s cat Bailey. :) I bought one, and M set it up w/ Crystal, LOL. :)

Stupid Car Ribbons

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

M. emailed me this:

“Finally, magnetic ribbons for freethinkers and liberals.”

store.pomosideshow.com/ribbons.html

That’s great. :) I’ve been wanting one for a long time that says “ribbons are stupid”, and they have one that says “I hate ribbons”.

But the real victory for me is that my family is in the car business and there have been MANY people coming in w/ these ribbons on their cars and finding that underneath them, their paint is deteriorating! HAHAHAHA!

What is today… oh, Tuesday.

Trying to think what is new.
I have no life.
But that is not new.

The more I have my Fujitsu P1120 laptop, the more I love it. I still want to get Linux running on it. That’s still on my to-do list.

I have TinySheet installed on my Palm (Sony Clie UX50) and now that I’m relying on it to do it’s job, it’s suddenly deciding not to calculate. I have to figure out what’s going on with that. Add that to my to-do list.

WinXP continues to lose connection w/ the networked computers almost daily, and still won’t read photos off my plug’n'play cameras.

One day it’s hot here, the next day it’s so cold we have the heat on.

Yesterday was a bad day, and after sleeping on it (4 hours) I feel no better. I need more sleep but I can’t. I have to be at J’s house by 9:15am.

I feel like death warmed over.

Weird

Friday, January 14th, 2005

It’s happeneing again. I can’t get to a website (this time Flickr.com) from home, but I can if I go thru a proxy server.

So now the question remains: is it the wifi hub/dns in our house, the dns at our isp, or a problem at a major hub in Miami or Orlando? Sometimes major hubs (?) will go down in major cities and since we are on a peninsula, that means there’s no other way to get to therest of the internet. We have a new ISP as of this month, so I doubt it’s them. Hmm.

Sims 2

Friday, January 14th, 2005

I got The Sims 2 and it’s just as addicting as the first one was when it first came out. But I have to admit what I’m addicted to is the building.

Last night I completely duplicated, right down to the furniture, “my house”, the big colonial house that we lived in when I was a kid. For some reason I obsess about that house. I don’t think about it all the time, but I have dreams about it, and I do think about it sometimes. My current house is similar, which is why I wanted it. But anyway last night I spent probably hours duplicating the house. The Sims don’t have cars or garages, so I had to improvise, and also the roof is all wrong, but you don’t have much control over the roof.

As far as gameplay, I don’t know yet, cuz I have mostly been building. But I like the new 3-d look, it’s wild.
