Sears Morons

Friday, February 25th, 2005

We got a new washer and dryer this week from Sears, it was delivered on Wednesday. It’s AWESOME. Clothes come out of the washer practically dry because they are spun so hard, and the dryer is real quick. I have done more laundry in the last 24 hours than I coulda done all week w/ the old set (where stuff came out of the washer sopping wet and the dryer didn’t dry after the first round of 80 minutes).

Some things were imperfect w/ the delivery, but I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. “It must be a hard job, they did better than I could have done.” “I don’t want to be a hard ass.” Whatever. But today the tally of unacceptable problems hit four:

1) I heard phrases like “piece of shit!” uttered by the installer. Nice, come into my home and insult my expensive top-of-the line purchase that I went into debt with your company to pay for.

2) The washer didn’t work when they left. Turns out the dumb-asses never plugged it in.

3) They ripped the linoleum in one spot and gouged it in 2-3 other spots.

4) They swapped the hot and cold hoses, so when doing delicates and darks, it was using HOT water, which could shorten the life of such clothes.

Each time I called Sears it was days before service could come out. Luckily I have handy ‘ol M who is every so handy w/ tools and much more limber than I am and was able to jump on top of the very tall equipment and hang over the back to do all the work that the asshole installers never did or never did right. If it weren’t for M, I’d be sitting for 7 days with brand new but useless equipment and a HUGE backlog of laundry.

And these jerks get paid good money to do this shit.

This weekend

Friday, February 25th, 2005

Tomorrow is the Festival Of India again. We go each year. Tomorrow though, it’s supposed to rain quite a bit, so I don’t know how it’ll go. I know I won’t be sitting on the ground to take photos this time, and if it’s deathly humid I won’t want to be there long.

Usually when I go I take SO MANY photos that I actually get too overwhelmed sorting them to pick a selection to put online.

Then Sunday afternoon I go w/ a girlfriend to see the Phantom Of The Opera broadway play.

Yet another cold?

Friday, February 25th, 2005

I have had NO energy the last few days. I have just been feeling like shit. But then today I woke up w/ symptoms of a cold and I’m actually relieved that the low energy was only due to a cold I guess I had been fighting. Now I can attack it w/ vitamins and herbs and Zicam and hopefully head off the worst of it. I feel ok now, I mostly had symptoms in the morning, but that’s often how a cold starts with me. I hope I don’t get any sicker than this. My brother told me that there is some flu going around New Jersey that makes most people sick for 5-6 weeks. I hope that doesn’t get brought down here by tourists.

Radio

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

Ok so the radio show about blogs has been moved to March 10th, but it’s still going on. This’ll be interesting. I’m really looking forward to it. Fun!

Tune and Dude

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

This is hillarious. Apparently it’s old news, but it’s new to me:

Hillarious dude lip sycing the Numa Numa Song
(“Dragostea Din Tei” by the Romanian pop band “O-Zone”)

I also downloaded the original song itself as I really like it.

Me on the radio?

Monday, February 21st, 2005

I was contacted today by somebody at a local news radio station about possibly being on a radio show they are putting together about blogging. I was asked to join a panel of guests. It’s tentative, but if it goes, it’ll be this Wednesday. Cool!

Cheeky

Monday, February 14th, 2005

I bit my cheek a few days ago, and no matter how careful I am, how concious I am, how slow I chew, I keep biting it when I eat. It hurts like F*CK when I bite it, and it bleeds. It’s never going to heal, so I put myself on nothing but liquids for the day. Slim Fast, coffee, tea, hot coco, soup, soup, and soup. No matter how much soup I eat, I never get full. I have been hungry all day. We’re grilling out steaks tonight, I just hope I don’t bite the wound again. I can’t find anything in the drugstore or online about how to bring down the swelling in the mouth topically. I’m already on a perscription-strength anti-inflammatory for my Plantars Fasciits (wounded muscle under the pointy heel bone), so I can’t go take any aspirin or anything. I read that applying an aspirin paste will cause a worse wound. It doesn’t hurt, it’s just swollen and hurts like hell when I bite it, which is ALL the time. I’m so hungry!

My day

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

Today: Saturday:

Sleep in a bit, in the guest bedroom, alone, to get away from snoring M (love ya tho!), coughing dog, etc.

M comes home from vet w/ Nicky. Poor guy has terrible pneumonia. We are very worried. I hope he makes it. The vet is quite concerned. :(

Give Riley a bath, use the shedding blade on him, clip his nails, clip one too short, deal w/ blood.

Go to local deli, then go to insanely heaven on a stick good chocolate factory w/ M and mom for decadent chocloate heaven.

Go to New Blance store to get M new sneakers and me new socks.
Go to Hobby Store which for whatever reason is patronized and staffed mainly by rednecks (“not that there’s anything wrong with that”). M gets RC Plane.

Go to Petsmart to return food bowl I didn’t need, get styptic powder for next time I over-clip a dog’s claw. Consider getting a dremel for next time.

Go to Dairy Queen. Go home. Love up animals and watch “Boat Trip” on satellite. (Watched “Shaun of the Dead” last night again, this time so M could see it.)

Went to Office Depot for the “Laserone is not complete without a box of these pens in the house” pens. Went to PetLand for Riley’s food. Went to Thai resaurant. Bit my cheek for the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th time in two days during Thai dinner. Bled.

Went to Walgreens to find something the bring down the swelling in my mouth. No dice. Just a numbing agent.

Came home.

Surfed.

Still surfing.

I stumbled across these on amazon, they are really cool!

Blast from the past

Saturday, February 12th, 2005

You always wonder who will track you down from your past, now w/ the internet and everything. People from my past have found me. Long lost nephew, neice…

Then today my mom gets a phone call from this person from this family who we thought/hoped we’d never hear from again.

These people were welfare queens with criminal records. They single-handedly ruined our lives once. Now they are calling and it’s been since the 70′s.

I don’t trust them, I don’t want them to know my name, where I live, nothing.

Some people are dangerous, and they ruined my life once (when I was a child, they ruined the life of my mother and I), I want them to stay the hell away from me and M and my mother.

Ow.

Saturday, February 12th, 2005

I bit myself on the cheek now, I think six or seven times in the last 2 days. I have a swollen lump that is easy to bite now. This sux.

Only Me

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

From the I’m-such-an-ass department.

I’ve been having bad foot problems (bad enough to go to the dr about it today), pain in my heel. Because of the heel pain, I leaned too far forward today, and tore the muscle in my big toe. Now my big toe hurts like hell. F*ckin’-A.

Sunday

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

Got up. Today is M’s birthday. Went to breakfast w/ M and Mom. Went to CompUSA. Went to Barnes and Noble. Went to car wash, line was too long so we went home. I took a nap while M washed the cars (I felt like death warmed over after having stayed up ’till 4:30am and getting only 6 hours of sleep). Got up. Superbowl is on. I’m on the puter. M made homemade pizza, YUM! Here I am. Yay. So for M’s birthday I got homemade pizza and a free car wash. LOL. :)

Cafe Press Store

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

Cross posted from the dog blog:

I created a CafePress store. CafePress.com is a site where you can create an online store (for free) to sell items with your photos on it. I set it up mainly for me, so that I could order stuff w/ my photos on it without having to wrestle w/ the printer and buy entire boxes of “ink jet iron on transfer” forms. Although, you CAN buy stuff from my store if you want, but whatever.

I’m always adding to it and changing it.

www.cafepress.com/laserone

Anyway, I created an “Everybody Loves Riley .com!” DOG t-shirt. I just wanted to get one for Riley to wear to the next pug meetup. I just can’t decide what size to order for him though.

UPDATE: You can order stuff w/ your photos on it from most places, like snapfish.com, ofoto.com, even fotki.com, but what’s nice about cafepress is that others can easily (without signing up for the service) buy your items and also, they offer more items, like the dog shirt, that other sites don’t have. Also, depending on how you set it up, you can make a profit on these sales.

UPDATE 2: I’ve added non-dog stuff, shirts w/ a photo from my Ireland trip. More to come.

Insomnia

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

Why is it the later you stay up, the less you want to go to bed? M is a copy cat. If I go to bed at 1am, he does too. It’s 4:10 am now, I can hear the sprinklers outside, I’ve watched a movie, read part of a book, now I’m blogging, and M’s watching a week’s worth of The Daily Show on Tivo. We are insomniacs.

Moooovies

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

Been watching lots of movies lately… on tv. I haven’t been to the theatre in ages. There’s a super mega plex nearby and it’s freaking impossible to park (or to hear the movie over the screaming teenagers), so we rarely go.

But thanks to Netflix.com (which, by the way, KICKS ASS!), satellite Pay Per View, HBO, and a free few months of Showtime, I’ve seen lots of movies lately at home.

Tonight I watched Shaun of the Dead. (good)
Last night I watched Napoleon Dynamite. (good, weird)

Last week we watched Open Water (good) from netflix, and before that, The Village (really good) from netflix as well.

That just scrapes the surface, really.

I really, really want to see White Noise before it leaves the theatres. At this rate I bet I’ll miss it. I hope not.

Oh cool, on netflix you can view your recent “returns” (rental history). We also watched:
Blow up (sucked)
Audrey Rose (killer! I hadn’t seen that since I was a kid.)
The Truman Show (love that flick)
Super Size Me (very good, everyone should see it)

My Day

Saturday, February 5th, 2005

Went to a Pug Meetup today and got lost trying to find the place. More about my day here on this post from Riley’s Blog.

After all that: nap, housework, surf, dinner, grocery store, dog walk, bookstore.

Local blogging story

Saturday, February 5th, 2005

The local news had this thing about blogs on the 11 o’clock news last night.

I was so sure they’d butcher it, but thankfully they didn’t really butcher the subject.

But they did have to have some OLD FART on (‘cuz it’s, you know, Floriduh) who basically said that if it’s not a fact-driven political blog, it’s “garbage”.

What-EVer.

I’m just glad the local schmokels didn’t ruin it. The story wasn’t too bad. Local news usually sucks.

So then I hit Meetup.com cuz when I first heard about meetup.com it was a bloggers meetup. I thought there was one in this town, but either it disappeared or there never was one. So I set one up… wonder if anyone’ll join.

Sick!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2005

From Riley’s Blog:

Riley is disgusting. His gaseous emissions are so bad they make me want to throw up! He has no cooth at all.
