Mother Frickers! Now I’ll never know how the movie ends!,

Right as the movie was building up to the end, it just rebooted to download new software!
MMMmmm… the house smells like Indian Food. It’s the best smell!

I saw Darth Vader shopping at Target tonight! Not doing an appearance, just, walking in, you could hear him breathing and all, walked to the toy section, and perused the Star Wars memorabilia. Luckily, I had my camera phone and little pink camera!

Nala will be glad to know, according to the Transportation Security Administration, “Toy Transformer Robots” are specifically listed in the TSA’s brochure as an item that is allowed on airplanes:

You can breathe easy now, dear friend. ;P

QUESTION FOR YOU RE. WEB HOSTING:
I posted this to a forum, but maybe someone reading this has some input:
I hope someone can give me some advice re. web hosts.
I have always used OLM.net because they are great. I am REALLY happy w/ them.
But a friend and I are starting an experimental website and thought we’d go w/ some cheaper hosting from RegisterFly, who I use as my domain registrar for all my domain names.
Problem is, I called twice just now and after long hold times, they cut me off. That was twice just now. The last time I called I got a rude person who was not only rude, but was *completely* clueless. Did not know the answers, and would sit silent for 5 minutes at a time and then she’d give me a really lame “answer” that did not answer my question even remotely.
I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth it to use cheaper hosting!
Does anyone have any thoughts?

This is disturbing. Not just the fact that a lake freakin’ just disappeared overnight, but that the people who live there have THIS as their first thought about it:
‘ “I am thinking, well, America has finally got to us,” said one old woman, as she sat on the ground outside her house.” ‘
Lake disappears, baffling villagers

Oh this is wild:
Saw this on digg.com:
http://www.digg.com/links/Image:_Venice_drawn_with_Microsoft_Paint
“Author Spent 500 hours creating a painting of Venice with MSPaint.”
The thing that’s weird about this, is that my photographer-artist friend (and client) gave me a print of his work as a gift last year. He took a photograph and photoshopped it to look like a painting, and it’s of the EXACT same thing as this mspaint photo. I guess that’s a popular spot to take photos from. Compare the above link w/ my print:

If you could see it up close, you’d see it was the exact same spot. Neato.
I love this picture, from “Hangeu”:

I’ve seen other pix like this, and there is always some argument about whether the photos are fake. People say ‘a plane CAN’T get that close to people on the beach or they’d be sanded to death by the jet blast!’ but the people who post these pictures always insist that they are real. I’d love to hear from somebody who’s actually been to this beach.
UPDATE: M says: “I’ve seen pics like that too. Yes, the beach is real. The planes really do get that close to the beachgoers.
The airport in question is Princess Juliana International Airport, Saint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. It’s right next to Maho Beach.

This is a similar photo on PhotoSig.com where some of the reviewers blasted the submitter for posting a fake:

UPDATE 2:
Lots of great photos at Airliners.net
Check this one out:
http://photos.airliners.net/photos/9/9/6/721699.jpg
What I find interesting is that in a photo dated
November 28, 2004
it shows a beach:
http://photos.airliners.net/photos/2/0/8/720802.jpg
But in other photos, like this one dated
November 16, 2004
it shows the beach gone:
http://photos.airliners.net/photos/6/6/3/713366.jpg
What I wonder, is did the beach wear away and they will try to rebuild it? Is this an ongoing process where it wears away and the keep rebuilding it? They do that here, “beach regeneration” or something like that. Or… did they take the beach away for liability reasons? I doubt that though, that’s destruction of natural property. If there were liability issues, they’d just prohibit trespassing. Idunno. Does anyone know? I’m curious.
Oh cool, an online barcode generator!

I am really not much of a news hound. I hate hearing about wars, politics, etc. I’m a head-in-the-sand type. But lately I’ve noticed that I seem to turn the bedroom tv on just when “Connected Coast To Coast” is on with Ron Regan and Monica Crowley.
I don’t now much about Ron Regan or Monica Crowley, or most of MSNBC’s shows… but I found that I really enjoyed Connected Coast To Coast when it was on. So I started Tivoing it w/ a season pass.
I don’t know if it’s because they seem tech-savvy on the show, looking at blogs, reading email, etc. And Ron seems really very cool. I think I like him alot.
So it remains to be seen just how long I’ll keep the season pass on my Tivo, but so far I’m enjoying it.
Ahhhh, Fark.com is great, a virtual fountain of useless information.
Finally, some bun makers agree to sell buns in the same # per package as hot dogs. NOW I have a reason to live!

REALLY neat site!
It’s random thoughts from people. You post them anonymously, and you can only post every 2.5 hours or so. Anonymous confessional, thought-posting, whatever you want to call it.
Until I get the send-to-blog feature working for my blog on digg, I’ll write this entry by hand.
I posted this to digg.com today:
Vimeo To Come Out Of Closed Beta This Week.
“Vimeo, a site for sharing video clips, is due to go open beta this week. So far Vimeo has been closed beta with only a few users. As a Vimeo user, I am excited about open beta. I hope it will become “the flickr of video’. Vimeo allows users to submit short video clips, leave comments on clips, associate tags with clips, and much more.”
Please be sure to check out the link and then “digg” the story to make sure it’s seen by as many people as possible. Thanks!
I went back to the same place for sushi again today. After being sick and not having sushi in ages, two days in a row seemed like a good idea.
You know how it is, you walk in, and you sit at least one seat away from whoever else is at the sushi bar. And so I do.
But after I’m settled in, I realize that the woman next to me is ddddDDDDDRRRRRUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNKKKKKKK!
Slurring speech, can’t understand her.
She’s making me shake hands and introduce myself, she’s patting the chair RIGHT next to her saying “c’mon baby, sit next to me here and tell me what you’re doing today” (in slurred speech).
Her husband or boyfriend SEEMS sober, but he acts like she’s just being normal. Maybe that WAS her ‘normal’.
It was really f*cked up.
I mean, I’m trying to order, trying to eat, and she’s REACHING over the empty chair between us, grabbing my arm, tapping my arm, talking at me, asking me the same questions over and over and over and over again.
And what made it worse, is that… it brought back memories I’d rather not have. It’s hard to explain. Someone close to me who died, would get that drunk. And to hear this lady actually brought back memories. This person who died, I don’t want to remember like that, not like that. That’s not WHO she was. But EVERYTHING about this drunk’s mannerisms reminded me of when TPWD (the person who died) would get drunk. The over amorousness. The slurring. The “c’mon be-be!”. The repeated questions cuz she doesn’t remember asking me the first three times. Also things like, she’d ask me something and I LITERALLY could NOT understand a word of what she said. So I’d politely ask “i’m sorry, what?” and instead of repeating herself, she’d get all self-concious and say “Oh, I’m thorry”, and cover her mouth and tip over like she did something really bad. *shakes head*
Later on when I was telling my mom this on the phone, I started getting upset. At the sushi bar, I was upset inside. But while explaining to mom that “I don’t want THAT memory, I don’t want to rememebr HER like THAT, that’s not who she was” I just got upset.
She wasn’t “a drunk”. She was a beautiful person. A person who was abused. A person who had and FOUGHT an addiction. A person who should never have been buried on her 33rd birthday.
Damn bitch at the sushi bar, you’ve upset me, you’ve upset my mother, and you are ruining your life.

Day:
slept, sushi, shopped, socks, cat milk, pizza, house contruction, bowling.
I slept in, went for sushi, went shopping, got socks at one store and then more socks at Target, got Cat Milk for kitty at Petco, went for pizza for dinner w/ M., walked through a neat house that is under construction in this new neighborhood nearby, then went bowling w/ some friends.
I got to listen to several of the TWIT episodes today on the ipod. My POOR CAR had not been driven in over a week! I was sick all last week and didn’t drive, and then on the weekend M drives unless we need more room, then we take my car (an Eclipse… his is a Nissan 350z). My poor car was so cold from not being driven. But it’s happy now. I was saving the TWIT episodes for driving in the car. I’m THRILLED to hear these guys together again and get GOOD tech info.
Ok, off to bed, I know it’s only 2:55am, but I’m tired. G’nite.
I thought I had before, but today I just added my IM info, it’s on the sidebar under “contact”, or click here.

I added some more info to this post re. the car sterero:
http://www.mentalbites.com/asecondblog/archives/2005/05/feeling_better.html
I’m so glad that I’m 90% better finally.
I still slept half the day away. I guess I’m still recovering, and maybe it’s that I haven’t done any form of exercise in a week, and that can be a vicious cycle: the less active I am, the more tired I am in general.
I need to get back into my web work as I have some deadlines to meet, but I have cabin fever after being home all week last week and am dying for sushi and fresh air and a bit of driving around w/ my pink iPod mini.
Thanks to all of you for your recent comments.
I’m finally feeling better, not 100% better, but almost. Still have lots of symptoms, but most of them are just milder.
Today we went to the new international airport where they had an open-house, they just opened up a whole new ‘terminal’, but it’s the whole buildings/parking lot, etc. It’ll use the same runway and tower as the old airport, and they’ll demolish the old buildings.
It was insane, SO many people. They had school buses taking people from the parking lot to the terminal. I have not been on a school bus since high school, and that’s longer ago than I’d like to admit! I’m mad though, the new school buses have A/C! We didn’t have that and this is Florida! Now they have a/c, seatbelts, and assigned seats. The doors open automatically, among other things.
The terminal was cool, looks more like a big-city terminal. It was hella busy though, took probably 40 minutes of gridlock to get to the parking lot from the highway. And then you had to get in a line just to leave the building, and I think we were in line for 30 minutes, 30 minutes (!) to stand in a line to get back on a school bus.
Too bad it was so busy (too bad they only did the open house for one day, dumb asses) because they had behind the scenese tours of the baggage area and I think security. But THOSE lines were an hour long! It was like freaking Disney World with the lines. Geez.
Then we came home and did this GREAT dinner w/ our neighbors. Our neighbor made Thai food (he made pa nang chicken, and thai rice) and we made Indian food. M made the indian rice, the tandoori chicken, and I heated up the fresh samosas that the local indian grocery store has each Saturday, and also fried up some paratha. mmmMMMMmm, it was an awesome feast!
Now it’s late and I’m tired and I should be in bed. I don’t know why I always blog real late at night when I’m overtired. I dread tomorrow because I’m behind in my web design work from being sick for a week. Ugh.
