I found another Geocache today!
One that we searched for on Saturday evening but it eluded us, we even had friends looking with us. Once I got home I thought and thought about it and had an idea of a new place to look.
I went back again today because it was right by the movie theatre (I went to see Batman today, it was really good!) and I took another look.
I didn’t see it at first, but I did look in the right place. So I went to the nearby cafe and had some caffiene and on my way out I took a closer look and sure enough, it was right there.
It was just a micro cache, which some people find lame, but for a newbie, it’s another one down. It’s just a tiny thing where you sign the log book. No taking and placing of goodies. Just sign the log and replace the cache as inconspicuously as possible.
I LOVE Geocaching!

This is awesome, somebody set up a website where you can type in the info you want to appear on your Flickr Badge (as in Luggage Tag, not the “badge” that goes on your website) and it generates a badge for you to save and it’s great!

about: TWIT, or “This Week In Tech”, with Yoshi Deherrera, Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose, Robert Heron, David Prager, Roger Chang and friends, from the original Tech TV, The Screen Savers and Call For Help.
I am having SO MUCH FUN Geotagging images! Digital images I have on the computer I can look up GPS coordinates for, but also, pix taken long ago that I scan in, if I can find accurate enough gps coordinates, I can add those too!
See what I have so far… fun!
Florida, Ireland, Canada, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, etc.
And what’s cool is that once you zoom in on the map where my image is pinned, you can click “Satellite” in the upper right-hand corner to see the satellite image instead of the map. SO COOL!
Today was SO FREAKING FUN!
We bought a GPS Unit today and we went Geocaching and then tonight I did some Geotagging.

Geocaching is where you take your gps, go to Geocaching.com, search for caches in your area, and then go hunt for them using the gps. A cache is a sealed box (like tupperware or metal) that has goodies inside. You write down the gps coordinates from the website, and use the gps device to help you find the cache. When you find the cache, you sign the log, take a goodie and leave a goodie. Goodies can’t be food, but are usually silly little toys, souveniers, tools, flashlights, etc. Goodies can really be anything except food I think.
We went looking for our first cache ever today and we found it and it was SO FUN!
Go here…
…and then click “Prev Page” to see a couple other pictures from our first GeoCache hunt.

Then later on when I got home, I decided to do some GeoTagging. Geotagging is where you associate gps coordinates with photos you’ve taken. On some photo storage/sharing sites like Flickr.com and Fotki.com, you can associate “tags” with photos (like keywords).
In the case of geotagging, you add tags to your photos online that reflect the gps coords of where you took the photo. You can do that several ways; you can write down the coords when you take the pic, you can take a pic of the coords after you take your scenery pic, you can store store a “waypoint” in your gps to remind you of the coords of where you took the pic, you can look up the place on an online map like maps.google.com which will show you the gps coordinates of the spot, or you can use 3rd-party scripts to associate coords with the images using the browser Firefox (which is what I do).
To learn about geotagging images in flickr, go here:

The above link is in association with the site GeoBloggers.com.
(Geobloggers.com is not affiliated with Google NOR Flickr. It’s a site created by enthusiastic users which uses scripts to assiciate geotagged Flickr images with Google Maps.)
Here are my geotags so far:

I learned about it in a day, so you can too, just take the time to check out those sites and do some reading if you are interesting in learning about it. if you ever get the chance to do this, I highly recommend it. It’s so fun!

Today was a nice day.
I stayed up late last night and then M woke me up when he was getting ready for work this morning, so I only got about 3.5 – 4 hours of sleep. (!) But the thing is, when he left, I was SO awake that I decided to get up.
I took the pudgy pug and myself for a half hour walk around 8am. It was great; it wasn’t hot, it wasn’t overly-humid, and we got a half hour of exercise in without getting sick from the heat. Then I came inside and did my thing, worked, surfed, and started to get tired. So The Pug and I went back to bed and got some more sleep. When I got up it was raining (as is normally the case during the day in this part of Fl.) so I was glad I’d gone for a walk when I did. Then I hit the gym, took a shower and watched the fire on tv until M got home from work.
Then we went for Thai Food for dinner, my FAVORITE (that and sushi and Indian food). After that we hit Books-A-Million and I managed to overspend as I usually do in bookstores. I got Custodians of Truth and The Case For A Creator and the current National Geographic w/ the whole King Tut In A Cat Scan Thing… as if I don’t have ENOUGH to read!
Now I’m home, having caffiene and getting ready to curl up on the new leather couch and read. The dogs are HYPER!!! Running around the family room and panting and grunting and attacking eachother. The A/C said it was 75 but we’re still warm so we set it to 74. I can never get cool enough in this state. Ok, I’m gonna go read now.
[[I'm making this sticky for now, so look below for new posts.]]

As of 5:21pm est, I am downloading twit 9 and as soon as it’s done I’ll upload it to my server to share. In a few minutes I’ll post a link to where it is so you can grab it if you need it. Be right back…

I went to bed “early” last night and then slept in, so going to bed early doesn’t seem to help me really get up any earlier. Then I fell asleep on the couch for 1-2 hours right after getting up. I wonder if the sleeping pill was just too strong. It’s supposed to only work for 8 hours, but, idunno… Then I took The Pug to the vet for his check-up. The weather’s rainy. The pug and I shared french fries in the car. Now I’m home. Boring. Not much to say. I did it againTuesday, June 21st, 2005I guess I shouldn’t have taken that 3-hour nap this evening. Now it’s almost 4am and I’m not tired…. again. *sigh* Bookshelf of the day.Tuesday, June 21st, 2005Miranda IMMonday, June 20th, 2005Miranda IM is a program like Trillian, a program that allows you to chat on all four IM networks (aim, msn, yahoo, icq) and irc, but it’s tiny: “Miranda IM is a multi protocol instant messenger client. No bloat, it’s Easy and Small! Miranda IM is designed to be resource efficient and easy to use. It uses very little memory and requires no installation. Just unzip and run! This also makes it ideal for users that want to run their messenger client from a removable storage such as an USB memory stick. It can even be stored on a floppy disc if not too many plugins are used. “ Polaroid-o-nizerMonday, June 20th, 2005

You can buy it here: PodcastsSunday, June 19th, 2005Man, I am officially addicted to podcasts * now! I’ve never come close to filling up my iPod mini… ever. But now that I’ve discovered podcasts, I’m close! I love information. I love to read but I’m a slow reader and I have what *I* call reading ADD; I never finish a book, I read five at once, etc. (That’s why I surf so much, it’s great for short-attention-span ppl like me.) And when I do read, it has to be non-fiction. I don’t like fiction that much. I don’t get why someone would spend their time reading something that isn’t even true. Maybe that’s because I read so slow. I don’t mind fictional movies, so go figure. If I do read fiction, I like to learn something from it, like about another culture, etc. One of my favorite things used to be listening to audio books in the car, and of course it’d be non-fiction. Books on tape, then books on cd. Then I tried audib1e for a year and I really hate it. It’s too locked down and alot of times the sound quality is crap and then a file will jump to the wrong chapter like they made the sound file wrong. But now w/ podcasting, it’s even BETTER. There are podcasts about EVERYTHING! Knitting, technology, religion, and as Leo pointed out, some lady is teaching her husband the language of Zimbabwe, so she made audio files and decided to share them. Now ANYone can use them. Who’d want that you wonder? Some people DO! And you’d never see that on tv or on the radio. Of course my favorites are the tech ones, the best being TWIT **. I asked on the Leoville forums about what are some other good tech podcasts, and I got a great list. You can view the thread here: Here’s my podcast subscription list: There are a TON of podcasts out there. Check out PodcastAlley.com. You can search, browse by genre, and there are tons. Just under “general” there are so many. I’m so addicted! * Podcast: A “radio-show” put in mp3 format so that you can listen to it on your ipod or any mp3 player, computer, or burn to cd. ** About TWiT: TWIT, or “This Week In Tech”, with Yoshi Deherrera, Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose, Robert Heron, David Prager, Roger Chang and friends, from the original Tech TV, The Screen Savers and Call For Help. See twit.tv or ThisWeekInTech.com Right nowSunday, June 19th, 2005It’s 1:30am. I’ve been online for a long time chatting and surfing. M is on the Playstation 2 playing games, and I’m getting off the computer because my butt is numb and I’m going to go read for a while. (I’ll add another bookshelf photo tonight.) I just made coffee w/ my favorite coffee maker, the Senseo… highly recommend A+++!!! ePrompter, againSaturday, June 18th, 2005The more I use it, the more I love ePrompter, a little app that checks multiple Gmail accounts at once, as well as multple webmail accounts, i.e. yahoo mail, hotmail, whatever. I LOVE this program. It’s free, and I’ll probably donate a bit, cuz it’s REALLY good. NO no noSaturday, June 18th, 2005“No no no no no no no no no NO honey you cannot eat the ethernet!” (as spoken to my pug as he gnawed away on a coil of ethernet cable) SaturdaySaturday, June 18th, 2005Went to a new Thai place for dinner last night, not NEW, but new to us. It was pretty good, but it took forever, they’re really slow, but that’s ok. Then we went to Mom’s to see why her internet connection was down again. We fixed that and then set her up w/ Yahoo Messenger and iTunes. She’s an avid music fan and I don’t know why we didn’t set her up w/ iTunes before. When we got home I found that The Eskie had eaten my book. I taped it back together, but I may have to hit AbeBooks.com for a new (used but uneaten) copy. So it’s Saturday and we slept in. I had this idea that we’d start getting up early and running our errands BEFORE it got deathly hot out, and then come home for lunch and a nap during the hot hours. But then we stay up late and sleep in, thus ruining the plan. Oh well. But yesterday I’d been to an appointment, breakfast, CompUSA, a furniture store to buy footstools, the grocery store AND the gym, all BEFORE noon and it felt great, not only to get so much done and still have the entire afternoon to goof off, but also because it’s not deathly hot at those hours. I’m babbling. 2-faced catFriday, June 17th, 2005HahaFriday, June 17th, 2005LOL I love this: I digg vimeoFriday, June 17th, 2005
