Writing this on my Sony Clie UX50 PDA sending thru bluetooth phone. :)

Death

Riot’s photostream on flickr is… graphic. If you don’t mind graphic pictures of dead and burned bodies, have a look. It’s what’s going on in Iraq.

Thanks to my chat buddy J.T. for telling me about the Leo cams, you can actually watch Leo edit and upload the TWiT show!
http://www.leoville.com/cams.shtml

Does Leo have ANY idea how fanatical his fans are? :D LOL.

To get TWiT episodes, go to www.twit.tv to get the mp3 or the torrent, or http://feeds.feedburner.com/twit-hib , or go into iTunes (the new version) and subscribe to the podcast.
As usual, as soon as I get it (episode #15), I’ll put a copy here for you to download. Link coming soon…

No shuttle pix this time

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

I can usually see the shuttle launch from where I am…
[[My pix of the shuttle taken from here.]]
It’s about a 211 mile drive from here.

But today I could not see it. It was too cloudy/hazy. That’s too bad, I would have liked to get some pictures.

Phantom Obsession

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

I don’t know why I never blogged about it, but a few months ago (not even sure when it was exactly!) I went w/ a girlfriend to see the Phantom of the Opera US tour. (It was sometime when the movie was out.) It was fantastic. But honestly I didn’t really GET it. I mean, it was hard to hear what was being said and I wasn’t quite following the story. But I was glad that I got to see such a classic play.

Then I saw the movie and it BLEW me away. I REALLY really REALLY loved it. I downlaoded the soundtrack off iTunes and have re-watched the movie a few times already. I just LOVE it.

So, seeing the movie really helped me understand the plot and dialogue much better (especially w/ the English subtitles turned on). Now that I’ve seen the movie and understand the story better and am obsessed w/ the soundtrack, I’m dying to see the play again.

Well, we got some really good box seats and we’re gonna go for my birthday! Well, not ON my birthday, but near it. It’s playing on the other side of the state, but it’s not that far really, so M’s gonna get off of work early and we’re gonna go see it. I can’t wait, I’m all excited now. :) (in a couple months)

Cat hair

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

M is always saying he’d like to see a map of every single place a Sasha hair has been. My tabby cat is about 18 years old and in all those years, cat hairs have travelled with me to Canada, Ireland, New Jersey, and more. Hairs of hers were probably picked up in airplanes that went to other countries, etc. How cool would it be to actually see a real map of every single Sasha hair?

Then we got to thinking, and came up w/ the idea to put some of her hair in a book and then release it thru BookCrossing.com.

I’d love to send some of her hair around the world. In fact, when we got to Ireland I searched my suitcase for one of her hairs and we ceremonially released it into the Irish wind. It was great.

Friday

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

I’m not sure how it got to be Friday. This week just flew by.

Sometimes I actually get TOO introspective to blog. Like I feel it’s too much to try to put into words.

Today my friend S is here, she slept over last night and we’re gonna go run some errands today. We’ve been talking about religions, and it feels good to talk to somebody else about it who understands… “it” being how I hate organized religions and what I believe doesn’t fit any one religion.

We watched Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events last night on dvd, that was really neat. I LOVE the artwork in the special features and the credits.

What have I been up to? Mostly just surfing (digg.com etc.), listening to podcasts, reading books, and thinking about death and eating disorders.

Don’t have much to say. Not sure what’s for lunch (breakfast). I could go for sushi or Thai food, but not sure what S wants to eat.

I’ll probably moblog a bit today.

Wish I had more to say. Just not sure what to pull out of my head right now.

Flickr Random

Monday, July 18th, 2005

I like to listen to podcasts in the car cuz there’s nothing else to do while driving really. At home I’m too distracted. I can’t read a website and listen at the same time, and if I’m going to sit on the couch, I’m going to want to read a book or watch tv.

But right now I’m listening to twit 14 on the computer and looking at flickr photos at the same time. I can look at pix and listen to the podcast at the same time. I love flickr random, it just gives you random pix from flickr and all u do is hit Reload to see more. It’s great when talking on the phone or listening to podcasts.

Sick

Friday, July 15th, 2005

I know I’ve mostly been posting links rather than talking about me, what’s going on, my thoughts, etc.

Not much is really new… and sometimes I go thru phases where I just don’t feel like “sharing”. Like “nothing bloggable happened today” or whatever, or that what I have to say about my thoughts is too long and involved and I just don’t feel like writing it.

Today?

Well right now I have awful digestive problems and I feel queasy. I’m on pepto and immodium, and not sure if a sleeping pill is a good idea on top of that.

I feel just crappy.

Today I… listened to twit, surfed,

[the next day]

I stopped mid-post to go to the bathroom, then lay on the couch, the floor, then went to bed and for over an hour was in and out of the bathroom all night w/ such terrible stuff I can’t even write it here.

Now I’m dehydrated and dizzy as hell.

WTF is wrong with me. :( I’m so dizzy, whooooooooooooooooo…

This is so disturbing…

TWiT #13

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

9:11am edt

Wow, I just heard my external hard drive going, so I check iPodder and Azureus, and there is TWit #13 downloading in Azureus 9which is set to auto-download it when it comes out)! Yay! I thought it would be delayed MUCH later than this.

Once it’s downloaded, I’ll upload it to my server so you can get a copy, although w/ their new servers you may be able to get it from them just as easily. We’ll see.

Edited to add: If you would like to set up Azureus to download TWiT via BitTorrent automatically, go to this forum post for very good instructions on how to do it:

Digg ePrompter

Sunday, July 10th, 2005

I’ve mentioned ePrompter before (_1_|_2_), but today I realized it’s never been on digg.com, so I submitted it.

Please “digg” my story:
www.digg.com/software/ePrompter_checks_multiple_Gmail_accounts_at_once

ePrompter, a small, free program, checks multiple Gmail (and other web mail) accounts at once. It’s great for those that have several Gmail accounts and/or webmail accounts.

No real hurricane for us

Saturday, July 9th, 2005

We’re lucky, Hurricane Dennis stayed offshore, so we only had some “rain bands” which brought tons of rain and wind. Some trees blew over or broke, but that’s it.

MEANHWHILE, our house has freaking leaked again. I’m so upset I have no words. This is a brand new house and this is, what, I’ve lost count… one wall leaked 5 times, another 3 times, all the windows leaked during Hurricane Charley, recently some windows leaked during a thunderstorm, our front door paritally leaks and is moldy, and now a new part of the house is not just wet but MOLDY which means it’s been happening for some time. We’re so upset and I just can’t even talk about it. I’ve been well-off, I’ve been poor, I’ve lived in new buildings and old buildings, even a condemned building, and in my whole life I’ve never seen water intrusion like this, except for maybe the condemned house. What does that say about this builder!?

Gmaps Pedometer

Friday, July 8th, 2005

This is neat, the Gmaps Pedometer:

http://www.sueandpaul.com/gmapPedometer/

Quote from the website:

What is this?
This is a little hack that uses Google’s superb mapping application to help record distances traveled during a running or walking workout.”

Why?
As a runner training for a marathon for the first time, I found myself wishing I had an easy way to know the exact distance a certain course is, without having to drag a GPS or pedometer around on my runs. Looking at Google Maps, and knowing there was a vibrant community of geeks hacking it, I knew there had to be a way. So here it is.”

The Rasterbator!

Hurricane Dennis

Friday, July 8th, 2005

Well, it’s that time of year again and another hurricane is heading our way. Some “cones of probability” have it just grazing us, others have us inside the cone of probability. Even if it just grazes us we are to have Tropical Storm force winds and rain. Our house leaks in just a strong thunderstorm. *sigh* I so don’t want to go through this again. WHY can’t we move to Toronto!?

Well, we’ll see what happens with this storm, and I’ll blog through it like I did last year (on the old blog) as long as I have internet. After that I’ll be sure to moblog w/ my camera phone as long as I can.

Maybe it’ll miss us entirely. That’d be great.
