7-6-05:
I love my new hard drive. I got yet another external hard drive yesterday. I have two external hard drives on my PC for backup: Cobian Backup does LIVE backups (as an option) [it's fantastic!] to one external backup drive, and I drag-n-drop my files folder periodically to the second external drive. AND IT’S FREE. (if I remember right.)

[[Edited to add: Turns out that the TWiT episode that was just released today (7-7-05) talks about backup software. I can't recommend Cobian Backup enough. It'll do a full backup and then incremental backups. I periodically start over w/ a new full backup and each night at about 4 or 5 am Cobian does an incremental backup to one of my external drives. BUT, what I love about Cobian is that, as an option (which is what I do), you can do LIVE BACKUPS. This means that what it copies is USEABLE FILES, i.e. not proprietary backup archives that require the software to extract and recopy it. It creates backups which are basically drag-and-drop copies of what you wanted backed up. It's AWESOME.]]

But I got a third one for my laptop. I spend most of my time on the laptop downstairs. When we moved in we set up a computer room upstairs, but it turns out we don’t like to be way up there in the corner of the house (plus it’s hot as hell during the day up there), so that PC is basically a file-server for me now.

So this third external HD is just for downloading stuff off Azureus (BitTorrent), and podcasts off iPodder. This frees up my laptop drive, I cleared it off last night and defragged.

Last night was the Linux Meetup. At the last lan-party I got linux installed on my teeny laptop [_1_|_2_], and last night I got Gaim installed, which is like Trillian but for linux, i.e. you can chat on aim, msn, yim, and icq all at once.

The new TWIT should be out tonight. *keeping fingers crossed*

Linux Meetup

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Tonight’s the Linux Meetup: http://linux.meetup.com

We’ll be going. Bringing my teeny tiny laptop which finally has linux on it after the last linux install-fest lan party we had at our house.

Good food, wifi, tech talk, what could be better?

no, YOU go fuck yourself!

24.14.229.184 is an asshole and makes a habit of posting obcene, offensive, and (what he/she percieves as) insulting comments. What part of I USE A COMMENT APPROVAL SYSTEM don’t you get? What makes you think that your fucking stupid immature not-well-thought-out comments are going to get posted here? Yeah, *I* read it and I laughed my ass off at you, you pathetic little brainless insect. Your percieved annonymity is what you hide behind. Come out behind your anonymity and say it to my face you chicken shit. It is YOU, my child, who needs to get a FUCKING LIFE!

To all: This is my PERSONAL JOURNAL. If you don’t like what I have to say, then LEAVE. Insulting someone for what they write in their personal journal is the stupidest, most brainless, immature thing a person could possible do with their time. “WHAAAAaaaaaa! I don’t like that you think that way! WHAAAAAaaaaaa! WHAAAAAaaaaa!”

Whatthe?

How the HECK did it get to be 4:43AM?!?!?!?

Caching Christ… NOT!

Monday, July 4th, 2005

I LOOOoooove geocaching. We are so addicted. I highly recommend it as a great hobby for techies (I refuse to call it a “sport”).

The rules clearly state that you should NEVER leave religious or political crap, nothing that promotes a religion, cause, etc., and no commericial items.

Yet I’ve seen 2-3 religious items in caches and I’ve been in this for all of 8 days. “Jesus Loves You” hacky sack balls, etc. I HATE that shit. Didn’t these people read the rules? This goes on without any apparent complaint. But boy, do you think there’d be complaints if I put some pentagrams in some caches? What about some “Choose Wicca” buttons? Or Darwin Fish dominance-humping Christian Fish? Do you think THAT would cause a stir? Oh, CHRISTIAN BULLSHIT is ok, or if it’s not ok it’s not spoken out against. But ooOOOOoooh, you better believe that if I put any of the above in all hell would break lose. Don’t tempt me, don’t even tempt me. I’ve been in a mood lately (as you can see from my recent shopping).

Someone went through the neighborhood sticking flags on everybody’s lawn, unasked. They hadn’t gotten to my house yet as we were on our way home, but by the time we left for dinner they had. I’m pissed. I took it up and put it in the house. I’m going to try to figure out who put it there- there’s a tag on it “courtesy of…” and it’s all washed out from the rain- must have been an ink jet printout. But I can see it’s a Coldwell-Banker something. I’m going to find this b*tch and send her the nastiest nasty-gram I can muster. Who the F*CK is she to put a flag on my lawn!? Who the f*ck is ANYBODY to decide how patriotic I am!? F*ck that!

Oh my god, *7* hours of geocaching…

Oh my god, *7* hours of geocaching…
… in ninety-some degree heat, got about 16 caches. Finally sitting down for a mellow meal.
