That taboo subject

[warning: swearing and causticity in this post.]

Lots in my head.

I wrote this big long post a few days ago that got lost in the great big sea of zeros and ones. Gone…

(click below to read more…)

It was about how M and I have been going to “The U.C.” (the Unitarian Universalist Church) and how it’s not because we have a desire to “go to church”, perse, but because we’re just sick of all the fundies down here in the south trying to “save” us, convert us, and telling us that all our family is going to hell becuase they go to the wrong church.

I LOVE this quote that Nala had on his blog recently: Here is part of what he quoted: “If you want to be religious, enter not the gate of any organised religion. They do a hundred times more evil than good, because they stop the growth of each one’s individual development….” Those words rang true. At The UC, you can be any religion you want, or no religion at all. There are Pagan groups that meet there, Atheist groups that meet there, Buddhist groups that meet there. People that go to that church are any and all religions, and most are like me: my beliefs don’t fit any one religion at all.

Another thing I like about that quote is this part: “[they] do a hundred times more evil than good“. If you knew the SHIT I’ve been through because of misguided, evil, STUPID fundies!

F*cking bitch who pretends to be a friend, longtime “friend”, takes me to dinner not SIX days after my brother died just to tell me that he’s burning in hell.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!

I feel sorry for her.

But it’s not too late for you“. Fuck her. I turned to Wicca then. ANYTHING to get as far away from her fucked up religion as I could. The only thing stopping me from continuing with Wicca is that most of the local wiccans in this town are really fucked up (and I’m not the only one whose noticed).

The UC has wiccans, atheists, Catholics, you name it. It’s a LIBERAL mindset there, religiously and politically. They believe in community service and action. There are pro-choice groups, volunteer groups, fair-trade coffee options, you name it. I really love it there.

I’m just sick of it all. The fundy assholes who hurt people, the government taking more and more of our freedoms and privacy away every day, tech support dumbasses who reply by sending you to an faq that you ALREADY told them didn’t have your answer. I’m just so sick of it all.

Anyway, so yeah, the “U.C.” has been great for us. We went a couple years ago to some programs and some services. The only reason we haven’t been going every Sunday is because we like to stay up ’till like 4am on weekend nights. But we’ve been going lately, to “service” and also other events, and it’s been really uplifting.

It’s just nice to be surrounded by people who, even if they don’t think like we do, won’t try to change us or make us feel about about what we believe, be surrounded by open-minded people, diverse people, people who want to make real change in the world, our peers.
