Songs

Monday, October 10th, 2005

Ok, so I downloaded some tunes.

A chat buddy sent me some Smiths and some Joy Division.

Sis in law recommended Frou Frou so I got one of their albums off iTunes.

Then I hit amazon.com and purposely visited some of the artists that I like in order to get amazon to recommend some other artists (works like a charm!) and thru there found Franz Ferdinand and downloaded an album thru iTunes.

I love how when you surf around amazon for things you like (books, music, whatever, but especially music), you can get recommendations from amazon. What others bought who bought what you are looking at, customer “so you’d like to” guides, “the page you made” generated by your amazon surfing, etc. I love it. I’ve found some great music and books that way.

Also a while ago I had wanted the song “a song for the lovers” by Richard Ashcroft and could only get it by getting the whole album so tonight I burned that whole album onto a cd since I’ve never listened to the whole album.

Then I figured I’d check out some podsafe music. I went to http://music.podshow.com and the “featured artist” (before reload) was Rob Costlow, and I LOVE piano, so I listened to some of that online and then hit amazon for the purpose of bookmarking him in Mozilla, and by doing that I found that he has some free tracks available for download, two from each album. So I downloaded those and may download a few more tracks from iTunes.

See, radio here blows goats and so I pretty much only listen to podcasts in the car, tech shows, etc. But sometimes I want to hear music from my iPod and the fm transmitter for the iPod sux (they are not yet making stereo kits for my new car so I’m stuck). So, for listening to music I figured I’d burn some CDs to play in the car cuz that sounds 8,000x better than the fm transmitter. I just wish they’d make a stereo kit for my car. I don’t even want to change the stereo, I just want to be able to put in an aux cord, I miss my aux cord. :( (previous entries re. the aux cord, the way I had it set up before: ..::one::.. ..::two::.. )

OOO I found an inexpensive album w/ PIANO versions of Phantom of the Opera songs! :) :) :)

I’m still on the hunt, so welcoming music recommendations…

I need music, and NO CHRISTIANS!

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

I need music. There is no good music. If there is, I can’t find it.

Radio here SUCKS so all I do is listen to podcasts, but sometimes I want music, not talk. So I went to look at cds and could not find anything good. Then I started surfing music podcast music on iTunes and realized that a good deal of it is christian shit music and not labeled as such. God damn those christians think they can sneak their “message” (of lies) into people’s lives by putting the tainted music on itunes and not labeling it. All that does is make me hate christians even more.

Got any good NON CHRISTIAN music to recommend? I don’t care if it’s signed or podsafe. I don’t care. I just need something good.

OH yeah I was gonna mention this before –

Lewis Black does this comedy rant about there being TWO STARBUCKS at this one intersection in some city. Well I’ve one-upped him. On ONE CORNER in my little town, there will be THREE STARBUCKS ON ONE CORNER!

1) There’s a Barnes and Noble w/ a Starbucks inside (*), 2) there’s a newly rennovated and expanded Target in the same shopping center with a Starbucks Cafe inside, 3) and now in the same shopping center they are building a freestanding Starbucks!

But that’s ok, cuz I’m addicted to their new Pumpkin Spice Latte. :D

Oh, and I found this neato Starbucks Gossip Blog:
http://starbucksgossip.typepad.com

[[* I have a friend who is a manager at a Barnes and Noble and she corrected me, it's not a starbucks cafe, it's a Barnes and Noble cafe proudly serving Starbucks coffee. And don't you forget that!]]

UPDATE: From an Amazon interview:

“Amazon.com: Can you talk about the genesis of a bit in your routine… How long does it take you to get it from that germ of an idea–from reading something that drives you nuts–to honing it, trying it out, getting into your act full-time?

Lewis Black: OK, let’s take Starbucks. I’m going down the street–I’m in Houston. Some restaurant offers me a free meal. I don’t pass that up. So I jump in the cab and go to this restaurant. And as we’re driving there I see a Starbucks across from a Starbucks. And then I’m at the club and I went onstage and I said to the audience, Do you guys wanna come on out here? Follow me out here to the end of the block and we’re going to stand out there until one of you explains how the f–k this could possibly happen in my country. And it started that way. And I yelled about it and yelled about it.”

Coffeeeeeee!

Saturday, October 8th, 2005

I LOVE my Senseo coffee maker. I noticed they mentioned it on the Starbucks Gossip Blog. I love how the machine is ready before my coffee mug is prepped (with sugar, etc.) and the coffee is in the mug in less than 30 seconds!

Backups

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

So my main pc upstairs died. It’s basically a file server as that room is too hot to sit in and I’m now in the habit of using the laptop downstairs. But all my files were on there. So I moved my two external backup drives downstairs and hooked them up to the laptop. What a bitch crawling around plugging stuff in in that sea of wires.

bitch bitch bitch

f*ck f*ck frickin’ yay

Last night I installed the trial version of Flexi Music Wave Editor and after that my laptop has been running SO FREAKING HOT and slow, even when the program wasn’t running. Maybe it was coincidence, maybe not, I do not know.

I uninstalled it.

And then my PSYCHO PC upstairs went to shit. This pc has been nothing but trouble since we built it. It’s just awful. Now it’s clicking and not booting. All I can say is thank god for my two external hard drive backups. So long as those are ok I won’t panic.

That and our internet is just dog slow today. Ugh.

I heard it on a podcast

Car designed for dogs!

Almost better.

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

I feel better after having slept half the day away. Most of my dizziness is even gone. It’s almost all gone, yay!

whatever

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

Bad mood. The internet seems slow. Gamespot.com is a wreck after it’s “redesign”. (yes I’m sure they’ll fix it all, rah rah gamespot, etc etc) My “benign directional vertigo” or FUCKING DIZINESS is back AGAIN! Stumbling around a like a drunk while taking the dog out and getting the mail – what must the neighbors think!? I’m in a REALLY bad mood right now and I have no idea why. I guess I’ll go to bed, it’s late anyway. 3:40am

Phantom

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

I can’t get Phantom of the Opera songs out of my head. :)
But that’s ok, it’s great stuff.

this week

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

I think I’m athiest this week.

It changes all the time.

Gas

Sunday, October 2nd, 2005

I think Arby’s causes mega GAS.

The Saturday Grind

Sunday, October 2nd, 2005

Phantom last night was awesome. I just want to listen to the soundtrack all day and all night and watch the movie over and over again.

Today I slept in, went to subway, starbucks [do get the Pumkin Spice Latte!], costco, petco, target, arbys, home… napped, got up…

Got some more video games today at Costco. Most of Gamespot.com is down right now for maintenance so I can’t add them to my “collection” list. GameSpot.com profile (down).

I got Trace Memories for the DS and Monster Trucks for the Gameboy Advance (plays on the DS)… M got Polarium for the DS and KillerApp for the GBA.

It rained today because we took M’s car which had no umbrellas in it. So at Target we bought two umbrellas and that caused it to stop raining. Now each car has two resident umbrellas. It’ll never rain in southwest Florida again.

Phantom!

Saturday, October 1st, 2005

We went and saw Phantom last night in Ft. Lauderdale, it was fantastic!

Here is an excerpt from an email I wrote to some friends about the experience:

“Not only did I get killer seats online previously, but they had to move us to even better seats! I was trying to find seats for 2 online and couldn’t get great seats. But I saw 3 empty seats together in a box very close, but it wouldn’t let me buy them because then it would have left one seat alone. So I changed the # of tickets I wanted from 2 to 3 and then I was able to select those three. So we took mom along. She loved it by the way! :) It was a box that held 8 seats.

“When we got there, they were waiting for us because they had cameras in our box and had to move us. At first I was freaking out but then they said they had better seats for us. I thought we had the closest box, but there was one closer. They put is in a box for 4 closer, CLOSEST to the stage. It was awesome! We had the box to ourselves. It was so freaking cool!

“See pic:

I marked it to show friends and family where we were moved from/to.
That’s the box across from us but it shows the same thing.
There are also pix on my moblog:

It was so cool!
