Mom & Hospital

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

I had to take mom to the hospital today. She’s ok. She fell and her knee was all swollen, but she’ll be ok, no breaks. Here are my updates from Twitter, which I used to keep people up to date with so I didn’t have to send multiple texts or emails (read from bottom-up)-

M just became an Uncle for the first time today. I’m scouring the internet and I just can’t find the perfect card! I’m looking for one that says “Congratulations on your new baby, better you than me!” but they just don’t exist!

Weird

Monday, May 10th, 2004

I don’t get it. I’ve been getting odd emails from the website that was set up for my brother who passed away recently. Someone emailed me last week and said “Why?”. Why run a site for a deceased person. Well, if this person had READ the website they’d know why. Don’t email the sister of the deceased and ask WHY. This person was disconcerted because my brother’s nickname was the same as this person’s “screenname”. Next thing I know I’ll be getting legal letters from some asshole wanting that dot-com for himself. Leave my grief alone.

And then I get another email today from someone who thought she knew him. She described a person other than my brother, and mentioned parents names, etc. It seems odd to me, because my first impulse was to say “no, he grew up in THIS state and had SO-IN-SO and SO-IN-SO as parents“. THEN I realized that that kind of personal information could be used to take over his identity. People steal the identity of the deceased all the time. I won’t contribute to my brother being violated in that way. Perhaps this person was genuine, but I have to be careful. In any event, anyone who steals HIS identity is in for a big shock: lots of debt, worst credit in world history, it’d be a useless endeaver. It’s ashame that in this day and age I even have to worry about such things.

I don’t know why, but all this has me feeling really bothered.
