This is frickin’ ridiculous.

From digg:

“NPR: Wii offers “a false sense of what it’s like to compete in the world”: “Parents often get a bad rap when it comes to video games. If they aren’t complaining about how violent games are and then ignorantly buying their children the same games, they’re on a crusade to get their children to go outside and enjoy the real world. However, nothing you’ve seen, heard, or read before will prepare you for the latest concern…”

Animal Crossing Friend Codes

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

Looking for people to exchange friend codes with for Animal Crossing Wild World DS? Here are a few places –

You have to add them as friends AND they have to add you, so if you add somebody, be sure to message them to let them know and ask them to add you too. Otherwise it won’t work.

Mario Kart DS Friend Codes

Wednesday, November 16th, 2005

If you want friend codes to play Mario Kart DS against people online, I have some links so you can find some. You don’t need friend codes to play online, just use the “worldwide” or “regional” search when going online w/ the game. But last night the only part of the online network that was working was the friends part of the network, so it’s handy to be able to get your hands on some friends codes.

* gamespot.com “Nintendo DS” forum, various topics there.
* The MKDS union at gamespot.com
* Someone started an IRC channel to exchange friend codes:
     it’s on DAL NET, #MarioKartDS.

UPDATE: more…

* The comments of this post have friend codes and friend code source links.
* This yahoo group was created to exchange mkds friend codes:
gamesource.groups.yahoo.com/group/mariokart_ds_friends/
* The new Nintendo Wifi Clans Union at gamespot.com is new and they exchange friend codes.

(signup at gamespot.com is free, then join the two unions listed above.)

UPDATE: More still…

* A Frappr Map w/ Mario Kart DS Friend Codes!

Mario Kart DS again

Wednesday, November 16th, 2005

I’ve been playing Mario Kart DS all day, and tonight the nintendo wifi network is down but if you add friends into your ds you can play against them. Over at gamespot.com under the Nintendo DS forum you can find ppl sharing their friends codes.
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/…….

Somehow it’s a lot more fun knowing you are playing against real ppl, and the ppl on the gamespot.com forums are pretty cool, so it’s fun.

DS stuff

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

I was lookin’ at my Pink Electronics today, and playing w/ my Pink DS and wondering how well the pink one is going to sell once it’s released in the US.

There are a lot of DS games finally coming out. I have to be careful and not go overboard or I’ll never get deep enough into any one game, and I should leave some to be bought for me as xmas presents, LOL! ;)

Adult Gamers Union

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Are you a gamer older than roughly 18?

On GameSpot.com I started an Adult Gamers Union. Why not come by and join up?

Check it out:
http://public.fotki.com/hockford/baby/image442.html

About:
“This union is for adult gamers so that they can talk about games with their peers. We encourage all members ages roughly 18 and up to join. Sometimes the adult gaming community is overlooked. Whether it’s the games themselves or the gaming magazines and websites. Discussion of games without immature posts, discussion of gaming maybe from a parents perspective, or just general game chat. Off-Topic discussion welcome as well as gaming talk. I’ll try to post articles that might be of interest to us.”

It’s just that so many game boards are full of immature BS; flaming, trolling, insults. It’s lame. So I started this Union so that ppl can discuss games and gaming w/out that crap. :)

Gamespot.com is so addicting.

If u r into gaming at all, do check it out and look me up and add me as a friend. You can have a gaming journal on there, and I use it just for fun, that is here. Some of the posts are copies of posts here, some are not.

Got two more games today, one for the DS and one for PLAYSTATION 2.
Kirby Canvas Curse, and
We ♥ Katamari
“we heart katamari”?

GameSpot.com is SO addicting. With game articles, reviews, screenshots, videos, ratings, forums, and more, I find I’m spending WAY too much time on that site.

Games

Thursday, September 8th, 2005

Got two new games today for the Nintendo DS.

The Urbz, Sims in the City for DS.

Crash Nitro Kart (used) for Gameboy Advance.

I like that the DS takes both game cartridges.

M had a handful of games for the GBA, and of those, I’ve been playing Spyro, season of ice.

M bought Asphalt, Urban GT for DS and that’s really fun too.

Nintendogs, of course, is awesome.

I feel like I’m forgetting something.

I made an amazon.com wishlist of games that I’d like to try. There are some really neat ones coming out soon in sept/oct.

EDITED TO ADD:
I joined GameSpot.com. My GameSpot profile (wish lists, game collection, etc.) is here.

I’m tired, but I don’t feel like I’ve had a lot of “me time” today so I’m not going to bed.

Gameboy Advance Manuals?

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

Where can I download manuals for Gameboy Advance games?

I went to one game store and I heard the guy say “we don’t take used games unless they have everything, the case, the manual, everything.”

Then I went to another store and bought a used game and when I got in the car I saw it was just the cartrige, no manual, no case. I don’t care about the case but I can’t get full use of the game without the manual.

Any ideas where I can download game manuals?

Scrabble Babble

Thursday, June 3rd, 2004

I wonder if you have to have a mathematical mind to be good at Scrabble. I was reading an article and one of the (former) big tournament winners was a mathematician (sp?). I am terrible at math. I was in remedial math most of my life. I used mind over matter to get all A’s and B’s in math from high school pre-calc up to University-level Calculus 3. But it was not easy and I had to repeat classes and hire tutors. So here I am now w/ a new obsession, a word game, that you would not think is mathematical. But maybe it is. Or maybe I’m just stupid. I feel very stupid right now. I’m on the verge of really beating myself up. I feel that I never accomplish anything., that I never finish anything, that there’s nothing that I’m really good at. But I know that’s not true. I just feel that way because there are so many things that I suck at that I WISH I was good at. Oh well.

Scrabble junkie

Saturday, May 29th, 2004

I’m becoming a scrabble junkie. I bought a nice new set for home and going to friends, and found a kewl downloadable version at yahoo for playing the computer or other players online (not sure about the online part). I have to figure out if MSN IM or YIM have player vs. player scrabble. I’m a NERD! Wanna play? Email me.

UPDATE: Link to online game, Yahoo’s “Literati” is the same as scrabble pretty much.
