Freakin’ riot snowglobe

Friday, December 5th, 2003

Oh THIS is a f*ckin’ riot!!!!! To quote my brother:
“It’s a computer version of a snow globe– with a sick twist.
To “shake” the globe, put mouse pointer over globe, hold down your mouse button, then “shake.” When you do, not only does the snow start falling– but the
kids in the animation get knocked off their feet! [and scream!] And if you watch the animation long enough, when the girl finishes building her snowman– it gobbles her up!”

I just love it!

Up In Smoke

Tuesday, September 30th, 2003

Thanks to Nala for this link:

Girl, 5, makes bong in class.

As I commented to Nala, that could have been me. I was five years old when my four older siblings were all teenagers in the early 70′s. I would wander into one of their bedrooms to find a bong-circle in progress consisting of my siblings and their friends. They’d make room for me and I’d sit in the bong circle and watch them use the bong. I was so fascinated by it, it was so nifty-keen. Pretty transluscent color, bubbling water, milky smoke. It’d pass right by me, of course, but without fail, I’d later wander downstairs with the munchies from hell and my mom’d freak out that they let me get high off second-hand smoke. Ah, those were the days. :D

Innocence surrounded by depravity. I, too, as a child, surprised a teacher with my schoolwork. One day we had to draw a picture representing a common phrase. My idea? I drew a brown wood kitchen table that took up the entire page. Underneath that, I drew in an A&P Grocery Store complete with a front door and people walking in and out. When I was called up front I held up the piece of paper. The teacher asked me, as she asked all of us, to tell us what phrase we were representing. I said: “Working under the table!” You should have seen the look on the teacher’s face. There was shock but I also remember her trying not to laugh. Ah… I was never normal.

Pray for rain…

Friday, September 19th, 2003

… or pray for NO RAIN?

“Apparently if you are as religious as Pat Robertson, you don’t have to worry about natural disasters.”

“Pat Robertson has been praying for God to divert the Isabel hurricane away from him and his studio. God seems to be ignoring Pat Robertson, because according to weather.com, Isabel is approaching the coast now.”

‘Flash mobs’ stage wacky public stunts

Wednesday, August 6th, 2003

I came across this AP article the other day while surfing “sci/tech” news on my new internet-enabled cell phone: ‘Flash mobs’ stage wacky public stunts

I got a real kick out of the whole concept, and just wish I lived in a town where something like that could actually happen. My town is so boring. There are no lomo or photo scavenger hunts. Even all the meetups I sign up for at meetup.com get cancelled because of lack of interest.

Anyway, this article (and phenomena) is really neat.

UPDATE: If you link-hop to urls mentioned in the article, and follow links further, there are some interesting blog-posts and pictures.

Funny Fark

Sunday, June 29th, 2003

I don’t know which is funnier, Jerry Fallwell’s Liberty University Dress Code… or the fark discussion that ensued. Most notable is the discussion post by Cyberluddite which reads: “From the site: Hair cannot go over ears, collar or eyebrows.
So, needless to say, this farking hippy couldn’t be admitted to this fine institution:”
