Death
Thursday, July 28th, 2005Riot’s photostream on flickr is… graphic. If you don’t mind graphic pictures of dead and burned bodies, have a look. It’s what’s going on in Iraq.

My WheresGeorge.com stamps have arrived. You can order them from Stamp-Connection.com:
www.stamp-connection.com/dept/wheres_george_stamps.html
Now before I enter my bills in, I can stamp them instead of having to write in tiny handwriting on the bill.

I made this button w/ that button maker I told you about earlier.
Want to see which stories I “digg”? See my digg profile HERE.
I like to listen to podcasts in the car cuz there’s nothing else to do while driving really. At home I’m too distracted. I can’t read a website and listen at the same time, and if I’m going to sit on the couch, I’m going to want to read a book or watch tv.
But right now I’m listening to twit 14 on the computer and looking at flickr photos at the same time. I can look at pix and listen to the podcast at the same time. I love flickr random, it just gives you random pix from flickr and all u do is hit Reload to see more. It’s great when talking on the phone or listening to podcasts.

“A photography student from Seattle tells the story of his attempt to complete an asignment and his ridiculous brush with the law while doing so. This illustraits the true ugliness of the Patriot Act.”
Saw this on digg.com
Hey this is cool:

Makes like an image map of google news headlines.
(thanks to Salilsp for the link)
Note to self:

(the digg search is cr*p and I can’t find anything unless I bookmark it or blog it)
This is neat, the Gmaps Pedometer:
http://www.sueandpaul.com/gmapPedometer/
Quote from the website:
“What is this?
This is a little hack that uses Google’s superb mapping application to help record distances traveled during a running or walking workout.”
“Why?
As a runner training for a marathon for the first time, I found myself wishing I had an easy way to know the exact distance a certain course is, without having to drag a GPS or pedometer around on my runs. Looking at Google Maps, and knowing there was a vibrant community of geeks hacking it, I knew there had to be a way. So here it is.”
(found this on del.icio.us)
The Rasterbator!
“The Rasterbator is a web service which creates huge, rasterized images from any picture. The rasterized images can be printed and assembled into extremely cool looking posters up to 20 meters in size.”

This is just… creepy:
Frozen embryo baby born after being in suspension for 13 years

Oh THIS SUCKS!
Coolio:
Handy online button generator…

This is awesome, somebody set up a website where you can type in the info you want to appear on your Flickr Badge (as in Luggage Tag, not the “badge” that goes on your website) and it generates a badge for you to save and it’s great!
http://www.flickr.com/groups/badge/
My badges, the one I made in photoshop and the one that was generated today by the website, Click Here.
I’m re-posting this from my old blog* cuz I just have to.

I am sick to death of all the christian fishes on vehicles here in the south. I wanted a darwin fish for my car, but then I heard that I could get one of a darwin fish humping a christian fish! I went on a hunt, and now I can’t decide which one to get cuz they have all kinds! There’s the science fish, the fish ‘n chips fish, THE SUSHI FISH!!!! … the alien fish, the DEVIL fish w/ a pitch-fork, the SATAN fish on fire, they even have a hindu fish with udders, plus many others. They have all these at EvolveFish.com
Also check out NorthernSun.com for great bumper stickers, t-shirts, and, emblems.
I love Flickr Random:

I like to just keep hitting ‘reload’ while I’m listening to something, like podcasts, people on the phone, etc.

You can make a “polariod” of any photo at “Polaroid-o-nizer”:
http://polaroidonizer.nl.eu.org/
It’s really neat! Check it out!

Holy cow this is TOO COOL!
makezine.com/blog/archive/2005/06/portable_rotary.html
A retro rotary phone CELL phone!
Pix, video of it working, and more.
You can buy it here:

The more I use it, the more I love ePrompter, a little app that checks multiple Gmail accounts at once, as well as multple webmail accounts, i.e. yahoo mail, hotmail, whatever. I LOVE this program. It’s free, and I’ll probably donate a bit, cuz it’s REALLY good.
This pisses me off:
Wal-Mart won’t print digital photos that look “professional”
(from digg.com)
I’d heard this before. With so many people getting better and better at photography due to the ease of digital cameras (snap as many as you want then throw away the garbage), I can see this becoming a bigger and bigger problem every year.
I love Digg.com. If you haven’t yet, u gotta check it out. It’s great for tech news.
Links from there that caught my eye today:
KnoppMyth, a Knoppix Linux distro optimized for MythTv.
“As part of its mounting United States rollout of content-enhanced and copy-protected CDs, Sony BMG is testing technology that bars consumers from making additional copies of burned CD-R discs.”
(It’s shit like this last one that makes reading tech-news depressing… constant stories about taking away our freedoms.)
Oh wow, FINALLY a program that lets you CHECK MULTIPLE GMAIL ACCOUNTS and check multiple webmail accounts, all at once!
http://www.eprompter.com/download.htm
I love it, it’s great, check it out!
UPDATE: This little program is so neat! It’ll check the accts as often as you want, at startup if you want, will ‘hide’ out of sight but still check, has color-coded icons so you can easily at-a-glance see if you have mail, it’ll check several different webmails, not just gmail… you can actually read the actual emails with it, navigate the emails with it, mark as read, mark all as read… oh, AND, you can make it your screensaver and that is SO COOL! The little icons become images in a screensaver! It’s so neat! And seems to be spyware-free too, you can’t beat that!
Oh wow, check this out at Nala’s Blog:
http://www.naladahc.com/sigma/archive/2005/05/24/some_fucked_up_shit
Some kid got murdered and his last blog post helped them catch the assailant.
Damn!
UPDATE: I added this to digg.com, so if you want to digg it (bump it up so it gets to the front page), go here:

This is old news, but here are a bunch of Farker’s Haikus in one thread:
“Hey, it’s haiku day. 5/7/5 is the date. Got a fave haiku? Post it in the thread.”

Nala will be glad to know, according to the Transportation Security Administration, “Toy Transformer Robots” are specifically listed in the TSA’s brochure as an item that is allowed on airplanes:
