Last night I uplaoded THREE YEARS of my life; my old TextAmerica moblog backup. Want to take a peek?

I love Shozu. I kinda miss my old moblog, but it’s no fun when the community is dead and nobody ever looks at your pix. At flickr.com, you always have ppl looking at your pix, so it’s more fun. So now I just use the tag “moblog” on my flickr account as my moblog.
Shozu allows me to upload pix to flickr, from my phone, with less steps than if I just emailed it. Also, it auto-reduces the size for the web so that I don’t have to, saving me MANY clicks on the phone. But for some reason, tonight, it’s not reducing for web even though it ABSOLUTELY is set to do that. Shozu has been SO buggy. It was on my nokia 3650 and it is now on my nokia N80 (both symbian phones). It’s always freezing up causing me to have to reset my phone. When I’m not using shozu or uninstall it, this never happens. Today a few times I turned off the phone, popped out the battery, waited a few minutes, restarted, and when I went into shozu, the first thing it did when I tried to call up an image was say “memory low, close some other programs before using shozu” or something like that. But there were no other programs running. I’m going to uninstall it and then resintall it. What a pain. I hate to have set it all up again. But I love it, just wish it wasn’t so buggy. From googling around, I see it’s not just me.
I could just email the photos straight from the phone, but it’d take many steps to reduce the image size and send. Shozu is like one or just a few clicks and it does all that (when it’s working right). The other thing I like about shozu is that shozu caches your images on the server until you delete them from the phone so that you can then upload a pic to another site or email address without incurring the cost of another upload. Shozu just signals the server without uploading the image, and tells the server to forward on the image to the second place. If it weren’t for these features, I’d try other moblogging services. Nakama.ca is really good because they have no software to munge up your phone, but then you don’t have the features I mentioned (although I will be taking another look at nakama, as I’m sure they are always adding features).
Ok, sleeping pill kicking in, so I gotta go.
Updated to add: I cleared most of the pix off the phone and it’s still freezing up. Guess I am going to have to uninstall/reinstall after all. Ugh. I need to go to bed!
My original “moblog” is pretty much dead.
I love the moblog, but the website it’s on, has kinda died, lost a lot of it’s clients, it’s community, and therefore it’s interactive-ness. I’ll keep it up, since it’s kind-of a diary spanning almost 3 years.
The NEW moblog is flickr. Flickr.com is one of my two favorite photo sites. What’s great about it is the community. You always get people looking at your photos and commenting on them. I tag my Moblog photos w/ the tag “moblog”, so to see my current moblog, you go here whereas to see all my flickr photos you just go here.
I still archive my best and favorite photography at fotki.com because it’s also one of the best sites and I like the Folder & Album setup they use. But for interactiveness and fun and exposure, I like flickr. So, to peek into my moblogging, keep an eye on my flickr photos tagged “moblog“.
M. is moblogging his trip to Toronto this week:

There’s an ipod moblog, show us your ipod!

Textamerica made my moblog “editors pick” for the day! Thank you Textamerica! My moblog is chock-full of pics and video from my trip to the Stanley Cup game last night.
Textamerica, THE place to moblog, got a compliment on nationwide television the other day. Cat on Call For Help (on TechTV) recommended Textamerica Moblogging to a caller, and she said that “it’s the best one” and “they know what they are doing on this website“.
I think everyone should have a moblog.
(mine)
Man oh man. I wonder what’s wrong w/ my moblog?
It’s still down and so far nobody has answered my message board question. I know they are busy and so I’m not mad. I’m just anxious: I’m so afraid that I’ll lose my entries. It’s not the images, I have all the images. You can back up the images, but not the entries, not the html. It’s just that since it’s like a diary, w/ all my own commentary, I can replace the images, but not the notes. I can’t find a way to back up the entries themselves. I’m afraid to mess w/ the temmplate for fear of erasing the moblog.
Waaaa!
Funny public moblog:
In The Can; Bathroom Self Portrait: http://inthecan.textamerica.com/
Awesome.
When I logged in today at my moblog, at Textamerica.com, I noticed that there are new features. For $5.99 a month you can remove ads (and support the best moblog community out there!) and you can even now have password protected moblogs! That’s great for certain people, people who want to exchange cam phone images but are not on the same cellular network, people who want to share their children’s pictures w/ grandma, etc. That’s $9.99 a month.
I’m probably going to sign up for the ad-free thingy. I don’t mind the ads, but I’d like to support TA.
My moblog was an EDITOR’S PICK today on the front page of textamerica.com!
The Textamerica T-shirt that I ordered the other day showed up today. It’s great!
That website rocks, I wish everyone had a moblog. What a wonderful world it’d be!
Wheee! I ordered one of these tees today:

Textamerica does it again. They screwed up my moblog! My moblog is broken and that makes me sad. It’s all white, no graphics at all, and there’s this innane incorrect message on it that says:
“This white box is here becuase you removed the [$links] token. To get rid of this box, re-enstate the [$links] token” which is BULLSHIT incorrect because I did not TOUCH my moblog! They changed servers today and now it’s all screwed up my moblog is broken and that makes me sad. I can’t even email my blog, the emails bounce back. They better get their act together! Gee, I really wish they’d fix it! It’s a freakin’ mess! My blog is really messed up and I noticed that alot of others are too, but I’m sure it’ll fixed eventually.
Update: As of 11:30 this am it seems to be getting better. The moblog is rendering right and my emails to it are not bouncing back. The thumbnail on laserblog.com is not rendering, nor are the “favorites” thumbnails, but I hope in time it will.
Update:: Original post edited to be more politically correct.
New public moblogs for the holidays! Moblogs are websites where you can email photos directly from your camera phone and post them on the web for free. You can get your own moblog at textamerica.com. “Mobile blog” = “Moblog”. Public moblogs are moblogs that anyone can post to and there are many, here are some for the holidays:
Share camera-phone pix of your christmas tree:
Your Christmas Tree - http://xmastree.textamerica.com/
Have you seen santa? If so, click ‘im and post!
Have you seen santa? - http://santa.textamerica.com/
Merry Christmas from TextAmerica: Post all your Christmas-related camera-phone pix here:
Merry Christmas from TextAmerica.com - http://christmas.textamerica.com/
A public Halloween moblog, anyone can post!
http://halloween.textamerica.com/
At textamerica.com they have “public” moblogs where anyone can post (email) photos directly from their camera phone, and people often start newsworthy ones (like there was one for the NYC blackout). Someone started one for the california fires, check it out:
moblogging is SUCH an incredible tool!!!!
I think that everyone who has a camera-phone should get a moblog, they’re free and lots of fun!
I need a life. But in all the years I’ve bee online (since ‘96) I think that the moblog is one of the coolest things. I broke mine last night and thank god M was able to fix it for me. Yay!
What is wrong w/ my MOBLOG!?!?!? All of a sudden, every image I send to it from my phone does NOT get posted! Images I email from home get posted, but that defeats the purpose of even having a moblog in the first place!
It’s not that I’m sending images that are too big, because it’s the smaller ones that won’t post. So far, only one image will post, this image of a duck. (I post it as a test and then delete it.) This duck pic is larger than smaller images that won’t post.
I don’t know if it’s textamerica.com or my cell phone company.
UGH!!!!!
I may not have alot of time to blog while company is here, but I WILL keep moblogging.
I’m not sure what’s going on, but now, whenever I email a photo to my Moblog, either from my phone OR from home, it shows up twice! I have to go in and delete the duplicates, which I can’t always do from the road. I can’t figure this out, grrr…… and their “help” thing sux…
UPDATE: It seems to have fixed itself, and others seem to have had the same problem. Weird.
At least right now, if you go to textamerica.com, the editor’s picks are people moblogging in NYC other affected cities during the big blackout.
Also, someone started a Blackout Moblog at blackout.textamerica.com. People in the blackout areas can send photos from their phone to blackout.814@tamw.com to post their photos.
Don’t forget my new moblog. I need to overhaul my main page, get rid of the left sidebar (for those who surf on palm pilots, phones, etc.) and update some links.
Stuck in traffic? Got a camera phone? Bored? Send a photo of your traffic jam to traffic.stuck@tamw.com. http://traffic.textamerica.com/ is a public moblog of people’s traffic jams from all over. I love public photo albums that anyone can post to.
There’s also one at http://mms.textamerica.com.
Yay! I got my new camera phone yesterday and it’s a blast. I also signed up for a moblog. http://laserone.textamerica.com/ We’re taking another daytrip today so check the moblog for updates. happy fun yay!
