The Frog’s Bad Day

Sunday, January 23rd, 2005

Think you had a bad day? I thought I was having a bad weekend. Then M ran the lawn mover over this frog. M tried NOT to run the mower over this frog. Then just when he thought the way was clear, he heard the most sickening combination of a “ping!” and a “squish!”.

Warning: graphic/sick

Finally, more D60 pix, no pug

Monday, January 3rd, 2005

My gosh, stop the presses! I finally took some photos that weren’t RILEY related!

Thanks to N and A for passing that wonderful lens on to me. I was inspired to bring my D60 [link | Photos] around town w/ me this weekend.

I added a batch to the gallery (and of course tons of pix to Riley’s blog) -

Backyard photoblog updated.

I swear. Every time I add a photo to this or my other photoblog, the damn thing shifts somehow. It’s supposed to show 5 thumbnails along the top or bottom. But I’ll add a photo (same size each time) and the damn thing will render it 4 over 1, instead of 5 in a row. I try widening the table, no luck. This is driving me NUTS! EVERY time I add a photo/entry, it f*cks up!

Also, now that I’ve upgraded to Mozilla 1.7, it renders a horizontal bar that wasn’t there before. Geez!

Mottled Heron, D60

Sunday, June 13th, 2004

I was out in the backyard yesterday taking photos for my “My Backyard” photoblog, and I saw this weird bird I’d never seen before. I often see little white Cattle Egrets, Little Blue Herons, Great Blue Herons, but this was the size and shape of a Little Blue Heron, but his colors were mottled grey and white. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this kind of bird before. I don’t know if it’s rare, or just immature, or just some bird I’d never seen before. I don’t even know for sure what kind of bird it is. If you know, let me know. But I got some pix of it w/ my Canon D60, and there are here:

Sun Conure

Tuesday, April 20th, 2004

I went to a local science museum to see these baby swans that were just born, and there was this ADORABLE Sun Conure in a cage w/ the most beautiful rainbow colors. Whenever you’d talk to him, he’d show off, it was SO CUTE! He’d show off all his feathers for you, going into contortions and everything. He’d put his wing over his head and then peek at you from underneath it, then he’d put his tail way up for you to see how pretty it was. It was so adorable!

I took pix w/ my Canon D60, here are the Sun Conure pix, the swan pix will come later, hopefully tomorrow (tuesday):

I stopped by a lake today w/ my D60 and took some shots:

Duck Pix

Wednesday, June 11th, 2003

While at the lake, a funny thing happened w/ some ducks.

I was at the lake, walking along trying to be quiet so as not to disturb the birds. All of a sudden I hear somebody rustling up behind me real quick through the grass. I had no idea who it could be. I turn around and there is a line of about twenty ducks coming after me! :) I had just before that reached into my bag and
pulled out a tissue. I guess they thought I had bread! They were so cute, they followed me all around after that. :D

More D60: Birdie

D60 photos from Sunday

Tuesday, June 10th, 2003

We went to a park on Sunday that is real small and not very photogenic. But I figured “what the hey”. I once saw on usenet somebody who recommended as an exercise in photography to go out into your own backyard every single day for a month and take photos. You assume you will run out of photos to take, but that forces you to find new things to take photos of, and to find new ways to photograph the same things. I always thought that was a great exercise. So when we went to this park, I didn’t have high hopes for spectacular shots, but I figured it’d be at least a fun exercise.

Took some D60 pix today

Thursday, June 5th, 2003

Today I was poor. Last pay period was tight. M’s car had $400 of work done on it, dryer needed to be fixed for $150, and my nutritionist is killing me (money-wise) and insurance won’t pay for it. I had no money so I went photo-ing w/ my D60 cuz that is free, don’t even have to develop film.

I got alot of Great Blue Heron shots. Here are some of the better ones:

I also got a bunch of Flower shots. Here are some of them:

And I got some misc shots:

If I were to redesign my site I’d use that DIP sign somehow.
