Good sites, new cam

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

I have to say that now that I’ve done business w/ both, I can recommend TigerDirect.com and eCost.com.

We get great deals and have had no problems.

I finally got the U30 I wanted. (sony cybershot dsc-u30 tiny digital camera). I even got the blue color I wanted. I did a size-comparison before with it.

I kept checking prices and the thing was always $300 ($299). I found it at ecost.com for $150. Even w/ shipping it’s the cheapest I’ve found. I really love it.

It’s smaller than it’s brother the waterproof U60. I really love it.

I’m going to be putting some stuff up on ebay to offset the cost/guilt of this awful habit of camera-collecting.

Camera size comparisons

Tuesday, September 16th, 2003

I went to Target today to drool over the tiny Sony Cybershot DSC-U30. (I particularly love the BLUE one.)

While I was there, I took a photo comparing the physical size compared to the Aiptek Pencam SD.

Then when I got home, I did a comparison shot of the Aiptek Mini Pencam compared to the Aiptek Pencam SD and the Sony Cybershot DSC-U60.

So if you want to see how they measure up, size-wise, have a >>>click.

Catching up

Saturday, September 13th, 2003

Well, I guess you could say that I’m finally catching up w/ sorting and uploading pictures. I’m nowhere near done. I take so many pictures now that I’m digital, that I may just have to face that I just don’t have the time to get all the good ones online.

Here’re more DSC-U60 pix.

dsc-u60 video

Tuesday, July 15th, 2003

I made a page comparing the video output of the $60 Aiptek Mini Pencam, the $99 Aiptek Pocket DVII digital video camera, and the $250 Sony CyberShot DSC-U60.

I have yet to add a video clip from the aiptek mini pencam because it actually takes such high-res video, that I can’t put it on the web without converting it, and I have not had time to do so. But I plan on it.

But you can see video from the Aiptek DVII and the Sony Cybershot DSC-U60 here.

First Shots

I set my alarm for 8am so as not to miss the FedEx guy. Our doorbell doesn’t always ring and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been home waiting for a package only to find they came and went and I never knew it… finding the package on the doorstep after hours of waiting, or worse: finding a “sorry we missed you” slip telling me that I have to wait until Monday to pick up my package. (For some reason 90% of all my important deliveries come on Friday.)

So, FedEx came at 8:05am and I’m now playing w/ my new toy. (Sony CyberShot DSC-U60) I’m going to have to do something wet this weekend; go to a pool or get rained on. I’ve taken a few test shots in my front yard, as well as a photo showing it’s size compared to the pencam. .:PHOTOS:.

I’m going to meet M for Indian food for lunch. God I love Indian food. It ain’t cheap to go for dinner, but lunch is dirt cheap. I’ll bring the cam w/ me when I go, and maybe there will be some photo ops along the way.

New Category

Friday, July 11th, 2003

Yay… note the new category! My new (yes, another one) camera comes tomorrow via Fed Ex. The Sony CyberShot DSC-U60.

(Previous posts about it here and here.)

It’s a small, 2mp, waterproof digital camera that has a very quick startup time.

I’m psyched.

New view: sony dsc-u60

Saturday, June 21st, 2003

Ok, I’ve had it: I’ve decided. I must have the Sony Cyber-Shot dsc-u60. Clickable Image

Every URL I copy/paste dies within a day, it must be a cookie thing. So go HERE SonyStyle.com and run a searh for DSC-U60.

Anyway, I found a new page that shows THE BACK of the camera, and it’s so cool! back of dsc-u60

ANDDDDD! It has the words I’ve been looking for for a LONG TIME: ‘Its unique vertical orientation (designed for one-handed operation) and fast start up time (less than a second) ensure that the user remains a part of the activity even when taking a picture.” WHOO HOO! That is the one thing that has been elusive; a fast startup time.

The D60 has a fast startup time but it’s heavy and expensive (don’t want to take it EVERYwhere), and the Aiptek Mini Pencam has a fast startup time but is relatively low res, and won’t take pictures in low light, no flash, etc. It looks like I’ve finally found a GOOD camera that does not cost too much and is durable AND has a quick startup time!

That darn startup time, I have the canon digital elph and it is GOOD, and it is SMALL, but it’s startup time (AFTER you take it out of it’s protective camera case becuase it is not rugged and was expensive) is probably five whole seconds. I have missed SO MANY shots w/ that thing.

Anyway, I think the sony cyber-shot dsc-u60 is going to be a great camera.

Oh god, not another one.

Sunday, June 15th, 2003

Oh god, not another camera to add to my list! Clickable Image I LOVE this little guy! It’s a “tinycam” as far as I can tell, digital, stylish, and waterproof. It’s the Sony DSC-U60. You can read about it here.

UPDATE: Here’s Sony’s page on it.

UPDATE: Above link died, try this one.

UPDATE: Ok, I give up. Every URL I copy/paste dies within a day, it must be a cookie thing. Ok, go HERE SonyStyle.com and run a searh for DSC-U60.
