Sick!
Thursday, February 3rd, 2005From Riley’s Blog:

Riley is disgusting. His gaseous emissions are so bad they make me want to throw up! He has no cooth at all.
We have a farm (or is it a herd?).
Tuesday, January 25th, 2005Riley got fixed yesterday and is home now.
M. got a dog from the pound. We planned on that for a while now. Actually M wanted a “pointy nosed, prick eared, knee high” dog for a while, and I sort of cut in front by getting Riley when I did (who is a no-nosed, floppy-eared, toy-sized dog) ’cause a litter became available. So then we figured we’d wait ’till after the holidays and stuff, and every day practically, M has been hitting the pound website checking for dogs and this one came up.
I don’t know if it’s going to work out, but we hope it will. All I ask is that it’s housebroken and doesn’t try to hurt the cats and that it doesn’t bark 24/7.
So far he’s really sweet (we’re going w/ the name Nicky).
That’s it though, we’re DONE! No more. Now we each have our very own dog and cat. I have Riley and Sasha, and M. has Crystal and now Nicky.
No more! It’s almost too much as it is.
What’s hard though, is that M goes off to the office job 40+ hours a week while I’m left home to walk and entertain the TWO dogs. *I* don’t want two dogs, but somehow I end up having to walk and entertain two dogs.
But so long as the dogs can be trained and the new dog is well-behaved, things will be easier.

Puppyhood and the art of Photography
Wednesday, December 8th, 2004My photography has gone to shit since I got the dog. It’s amazing, but I have taken not a SINGLE photo except puppy pictures since I got him.
Having a puppy is very time consuming. They are very demanding… of attention, of cleanup, you name it.
I couldn’t wait for fall so that I could go ‘photo-ing’ without getting heat stroke, but now I have the dog and I’m always out on walks w/ him and I can’t really (can’t easily) bring my nice (big) camera w/ me when I have the dog. And if I have time to drive to a nature preserve w/ the good camera, it’s time I should really be taking the dog to the dog park, or staying home taking care of him.
I sorta can’t wait ’till he’s grown and doesn’t have to go outside to potty every 2-3 hours. I’d just like to take a day and go to a nature presever w/ the camera.
I guess I CAN. But I just don’t. Puppyhood is a bitch. Sometimes I wish I got an adult dog. I know that one day I’ll look back and miss his puppy days, so I’m trying not to take him for granted right now. That’s kinda why I do spend more time at the dog park then at the nature preserve w/ the camera.

Puppy is home
Sunday, October 10th, 2004Yesterday we went and got the puppy, Riley. I was so tired by last night. Just overloaded I guess. All the anticipation of getting the puppy, the road trip, the overstimulation of the new puppy.
It’s gonna take me a while to figure everything out, like when he has to potty vs. when he’s playing me for attention, stuff like that.
Cats are so much easier. But I wanted a buddy I could take to parks and dog bakeries. So, in time it will be worth it.
Remember, he has his own blog!

I took some great photos of him yesterday, and they are posted on his blog.

Getting puppy today!
Saturday, October 9th, 2004We’re leaving in a bit to head to the other coast to get the new Pug puppy! Check my moblog for camera-phone pictures from the road, and then later tonight I should have better photos posted to the puppy-blog.

I’m getting a PUG!
Sunday, October 3rd, 2004Went and visited the Pug breeder today. Put a deposit on a little boy who can come home this Saturday. I can’t believe I’m finally getting a pug, that I’m finally getting a dog after… how many years??? (thinking) …23 years or so. I’m nervous about puppyhood, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it.
Want to see picatures????
.:PHOTOS:.
I’ll have to come up with a blog category just for him, but I haven’t come up with a name for him yet.
I spent a lot of time finding a reputable breeder. I didn’t want to support the puppy mill industry (pet stores) and I wanted to make sure I did all I could to increase my chances of having a pug who came from healthy stock. The breeder’s active in showing, and several authors of books about pugs have consulted her and credited her, and most of the photos in “Pugs For Dummies” are her photos (and her dogs).
Yay!
UPDATE: I’m welcoming name suggestions, by the way.
