Satellite

Thursday, March 4th, 2004

EEEEEEE! There goes what little life I had. We finally got a tivo-based Direct TV setup and so we have satellite back! That means tons of movies and Tech TV! I love Tech TV. Call me a nerd, I don’t care. Our local cable co. doesn’t have TechTv, the jerks. We love satellite. Last year we watched the leafs every chance we got, it was great. Well, that season’s about over, but at least we can get movies and I can get my TechTv fix, and maybe a bit of porno.
(kidding)

If we do indeed get satellite working tonight, I won’t be blogging, photo-ing, writing, shopping, sushi-ing, sleeping, or bathing for days on end. I have not seen TechTv in a freaking year.

Nooooooo!

South Park

I swear to god, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are fucking geniuses! I don’t know HOW they do it! Not only do they come up with ingeneous stuff, but they manage to do it in like 48 hours!!! Saddam’s capture hit headlines, what, Sunday? And already, for tonight’s episode they have a whole epic based on The Wizard of Oz (which ironically just aired this past weekend) where at the end, it’s Saddam behind the curtain, beard and all, with a cartoon-rendition of the hole he was hiding in. They even had his quote down pat. I don’t know how they do it but they are geniuses! AHAHAHAH I laughed so hard I’m still hiccuping.
P.S. I love their interpretation of Canadians and Canada. M being from Canada we both find it gut-wrenching hilarious!!!!!

UPDATE: Sorry, the image looked better on my camera-phone screen. I’ll try to get a better pic.
Got a better pic w/ my Sony Cybershot Dsc-U60.

“Scrubs” quote

Thursday, December 4th, 2003

Doctor to Janitor: “Hey Klaus. In your country how come Hamburg and Frankfurt have nothing to do with hamburgers or hot dogs?”

Janitor to Doctor: “Why is it your Lake Titicaca not filled with boobs and poop?”

Angel

Monday, December 1st, 2003

For years I have known people who were mega into Buffy, and I never watched it cuz I thought the whole concept was stupid. Now I regret that because I am hooked on Angel. But, I have not been watching it long (only a couple months and it’s been on since I think ’99) and I watch it in reruns that are out of order, so I am so confused. I wish I had been watching it all along, and had at least a LITTLE background in Buffy.

Myth Busters

Friday, October 10th, 2003

Great new TV show, Myth Busters on the Discovery Channel. They take urban legends and try to either debunk them or verify them by TESTING them by re-enacting them. It’s pretty good, sometimes hilarious.

[[***NOTE from Laserone: Mythbusters is not MY show, this is NOT the TLC website, this is NOT the official website for Mythbusters. This is my personal blog (journal) where I just talked about Mythbusters. I am not affiliated w/ TLC nor Mythbusters.**]]

Phil Schmil

Monday, September 22nd, 2003

I don’t think I really like what Dr. Phil is doing right now. He’s got this Dr. Phil Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge going on. At first I was impressed, “Wow, he really cares about people.” I’m sure he does.

But his new season is plagued w/ ratings bait. I mean, he created this challenge, fine. He selected a group of people for him to monitor and mentor closely, fine. He put them all in a house… weird. Then he put cameras everywhere… weirder. Then he set up the “video diary” thing that ALL “reality tv” shows have… suspicious. Then he deliberatly sets them up for failure, stocking the pantry not only w/ tempting foods, but specific foods that the selected contestants? have admitted were their weaknes; pork rinds w/ peanut butter, cookie dough, etc. Now I’m sure of it, this whole thing is set up more for ratings than it is for the well-being of the contestants.

It’s cheap. It’s a stunt. Even his “Dr. Phil Family” that he is going to follow throughout the year, it’s all done w/ a Jerry Springer type of overtone. Closeup shot of mother, caption underneath says “daughter pregnant at 15″. Closeup of daughter, caption underneath says “had sex at 14 years old”. They show the cheap fights between the family members, just cuz it’s on tape and not on the stage doesn’t mean it’s better than what Jerry Springer does.

I love how Chris Pirillo refers to Dr. Phil’s Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge book as “Dr. Phil’s Berate Your Way To Thin.” What a riot.

I don’t know. I just hope Dr. Phil gets over his ratings-fever before the format of his show is entirely ruined.

Queer Eye

Wednesday, September 10th, 2003

Who’s watching Queer Eye For The Straight Guy? Did you LOVE the Brian “Butch” Schepel one? The guy looked like a mountain psycho beforehand:

… and afterward:

… he had this whole Kenneth Branagh / Colin Firth thing going on. (hubba-hubba)

I’d say by far this is the best episode.

[[Can't find any good photos, and now my computer's crashing. I'm fucking going to bed.]]

UPDATE: Brian’s website.

Boy Meets Boy

Thursday, September 4th, 2003

I meant to watch Boy Meets Boy from the beginning. I wish I had. I just lost track of when it began. I saw the last half of the series and just saw the first one tonight. I feel like I missed out. But it was good… interesting.

Adventure Bound

Thursday, September 4th, 2003

I used to love to watch the show “Adventure Bound” w/ Alby Mangels. Too bad it doesn’t run on the Travel Channel anymore.
